Services
Our funeral home was founded in 1872 by John J. Murphy and has been in continuous operation since that time. Our first funeral home was located on Broadway in Kingston, NY in a four-story building next to the J. J. Maroon Confectionery Store. Subsequently, the founder's son Nicholas, took over the business at 9 Andrew Street.
General Price List We know more families today are concerned about funeral costs, and this information is what is needed to make the right selection of funeral services and products. Throughout history, burial has been a common practice in human communities, large and small; around the world. G. K. Chesterton wrote, Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die. The men and women who served in the armed forces, whether during a time of war, or one of peace, are living examples of that contradiction. Each should be honored and remembered, so that our gratitude never fades.
The obituaries listed below represent the men and women who have served our community as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, deputy sheriff, trooper or police officer. Someone who does what he or she can, despite the personal cost, when it needs to be done. Our community first responders put themselves in harm's way while protecting and serving our community.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the New York State Department of Health both require that certain disclosures be made by funeral providers on the general price list. Although these disclosures are similar, they are not exactly the same. This general price list contains both sets of the required disclosures.

I cannot express how grateful I am to Harry for the help he provided my family. He did a phenomenal job with my grandfather's funeral. He was kind, professional and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. When my grandfather passed, my mother was left with the responsibility of planning the funeral, and Harry was nothing short of amazing. He walked her through the whole process and took great care of her. Harry is a true gentleman who will give you the utmost respect and work tirelessly to ensure that your experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible. If you're in need of funeral

My family and I can not say enough good about Harry VanVliet or the exceptional services that he provides. He handled everything for us 10 years ago when my dad passed. We recently reached out to him for a graveside concern that we needed assistance with. He immediately went out of his way to help. He treats everyone like family. I highly recommend him and his services.

Harry VanVliet is the most professional and compassionate person I know. Not to mention, a good friend to all he knows. My brother, Tom Barringer’s wishes were to be cremated and no calling hours or service. Harry thought of a perfect spot and a perfect way for our family to honor him yet still abide by his wishes. I can’t thank him enough for all he did for my sister-in-law, Lynda and I during this most difficult time. Everything was perfect and we know Tom would have liked what was done. It was beautiful.

We are out of town, it took for us 8 hours to get to Kingston, NY. We are very thankful to Harry for supporting and helping us so much. While we all were in distress, he did most work for us, helping with obituary, giving us good advises, providing all help, and giving us a lot of time for saying our Good-byes. Late night he dropped everything and picked up our dad. He is a great person and definitely in the right place serving people. Our dad was in good hands and care on his last path. Thank you, Harry.
