Marie did an awesome job with my unruly mop of hair that had not been cut in 20 months. She worked with my preferences, advised about hair care and unlocked my curls and set them free. My daughter says it’s totally cute and I look ten years younger and who can complain about that?!?!?! I’ll be going to Marie exclusively from now on.

Imagine this... 10 years ago you walk into a salon, you are fearful because anyone else who has cut your hair has dropped the ball and you have some serious mistrust in anyone who claims that they can cut curly hair. But you have a personal reference, so you continue on. You are met with a bright ray of sunshine who exudes a love for curls. Immediately you feel at peace. I was pleased to get an Express cut from Marie after 4-1/2 months. She took a lot of time to learn what I liked and disliked about my hair and what I would like it to look like. She very patiently cut several inches off my curls and shaped it. When I left I felt like a new woman. I appreciate her express cut on my dry hair.

Marie is the curly hair whisperer!! I came in for a cut and reshaping. Everyone says that they can cut curly hair but Marie really can. I told her that I needed a wash and wear style with easy product use. She did just that!! Very happy with my hair. If you are asking yourself should I try her, the answer is yes!! I found Marie here on Yelp when searching for a curly hair Stylist. I booked an appointment. The first appointment she canceled (via text) as I was pulling up at her location 6 minutes before my appointment. Several days later, I rebooked and went back. I requested a basic layered cut on a shoulder length Bob. Nothing crazy, by any means.

I have short, 2c-ish med-low porosity hair. I have been doing curly girl for a little over a year. I moved to the area recently and decided to look for a stylist that works with curly hair. I'm so glad I found Marie's Curly Hair Studio! She does all the basic stuff right for curly hair... the right products, the right drying techniques, and all the right tools. Marie is a professional curly hair stylist. She has cut my hair three times now and I'm so glad I found her. She just moved her studio into her beautiful house and it's gorgeous. She is a great resource for curly hair health, vitality and styling tips. I also love that she lets you come back within 10 days of a cut to fix any little pieces that may not being laying quite right. This is important with us curly girls as our hair may take a few days to decide how it's going to curl, especially if you've cut quite a bit off - like I just did. :) Highly recommend Marie!

Best haircut I've ever gotten! I've always been afraid of getting haircuts because my really curly hair ends up in a weird pyramid shape, it gets straightened, cut while wet and so many other horrible things. This has been the complete opposite experience and Marie also taught me about caring and styling curly hair. I've been to other stylists that claim to be curly hair experts but they all fall short compared to Marie.

Marie is the best. She is a kind and wonderful soul, but beyond that, she is amazing with curly hair. She even taught me how to take care of my hair after the cut. (Pic is from a month after the cut)

Marie is a life saver! Been searching for a curly hair pro and she was definitely worth the 3-hr drive (each way) and AirBnB stay. Know that might sound crazy just for a hair cut but anyone with curly hair understands how difficult it can be to find someone who really knows curly hair. Feel super blessed and grateful to have found her! My hair looks fuller and healthier for sure! She was also very generous with sharing curly hair resources and info on products

Finally!!!!!!! Since I moved to Vancouver from Portland, I've been going to Portland to get my hair cut. I have fine, curly hair, and lots of it. It's really difficult to find someone who knows how to cut fine, curly hair. If it's cut while wet, you lose the shape of it, and it shrinks up once dry. There's a technique called DevaCut with is strictly for curls, but that's not exactly what I want either, because I like to smooth out the hair that frames my face so it looks softer. I've tried a number of Vancouver curly hair "experts" as well as Portland "

I am writing an updated review for Marie. She started cutting my hair about 4 or 5 years ago. And I must say she's still the best, most skilled person who has ever touched my hair.
After a recent relocation to North Carolina, I simply cannot express how much I miss her! She is talented beyond measure, skilled, kind and a great listener! And I still have her number so my first trip home I might go right to her door right from the airport!!! Not even joking.
While Marie cut my hair it was easier to style, fun and flirty cut. I miss her skills and I haven't been able to find another

I'm sure Marie is a fantastic hair stylist, but I wouldn't know because she wouldn't cut my hair. I have super thick, dry, wavy hair and have been disappointed with the cuts I've received for straight hair. My husband surprised me for mothers day with money specifically to get my hair done at this salon! I was so optimistic, I thought surely Marie would know how to bring out my waves, cut out the bulk, and make my hair actually look good naturally. I have been to both stylists who work here and have had fantastic results everytime. I love that there's such a great curly hair resource so close to home and that the people and space here are so inviting. Curly hair is a blessing when you go Marie! I have been looking for years for someone who gets my hair. I tried four salons Portland and three in Vancouver, but either they want to straighten my hair or they don't understand how to cut it or they act all high and mighty. Here's the thing, curly hair is unique. It requires a technique that's different from straight hair. Marie gets that. She dry cut my hair. She also listened when I told her how my hair responds to certain products or what's unique about it. My color and deep condition are amazing and the cut has never been better
