The AK Macagna Funeral Home was founded in 1934 by Adam and Kate Macagna, hence the funeral home's AK title. Adam and Kate Macagna, being the one of the first husband and wife team of funeral directors, were also considered pioneers in the funeral industry when women were very rarely seen in that line of work.
We will assist your family in planning a funeral and choosing the options that suit your families needs and your loved ones wishes. We are able to assist you in holding services in a wide variety of areas. From our chapel, to your church or at the cemetery we are able to prepare a meaningful service to honor your loved one.
Staff members of A. K. Macagna Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors. Anthony S. Macagna, Jr. was born in New York City, on the Lower East Side.
Tony was born in New York City, andwas a licensed funeral director for 65 years. He started his career in funeral service at the Adam K. Macagna Funeral Home on 12th Street in New York City and subsequently founded the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home of Cliffside Park in 1969. He was amember of the Cliffside Park Men's Club, Englewood Cliffs UNITI, Unico and numerous other civic and philanthropic organizations.

When we lost our beloved aunt suddenly we couldn’t have been more thankful for the lovely professionals at the Macagna Funeral Home. They we’re so sincere and attentive to our family’s needs during a very mournful time. They held a beautiful wake in a very beautiful private and spacious room followed by a very honorable funeral that exceeded our family’s expectations. We cannot thank you enough for what you did for us when we needed you the most. You are all so wonderful. I recently attended a wake and funeral at A K Macagna Funeral Home. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and very kind to the family who lost a loved one. I would highly recommend their services if need be. They even buried Frank Sinatra’s father back in 1969! Nothing but the best at Macagna Funeral Home!

Although everything was done professionally, I specifically requested that a song be played at church and that was not done. I specifically asked that I wanted to play songs at the cemetery and they forgot, when reminded I played one of two songs and they ushered guests out before I could complete my request. I than left a message for the owner to call me which he never did. Realizing what a difficult time this was for me and my family they should have had the common courtesy to address me. I am disappointed and they have shown me that they do not care for families but only the money.

They are professional and their rooms are very comfortable and spacious. When I recently had to decide on services, there was no question as to use them. I have been to many services in my lifetime and they are by far the most comforting along with their facility. We have been using them for years and will continue to use them.

This is a family owned funeral home. They just took care of my father's service and did a wonderful job with all aspects. They went out of their way to make things easy for my mother, who has difficulty walking and uses a walker. They made the process of selecting options for the funeral service easy, and took all the time my mother required to make the selections. The mortician did very good work on my father. They coordinated very well with the local church, cemetery and hospital to handle all the required details. They provide very personal service, please consider them in your time of need
