Founded in 1974, Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) is a developmental preschool for 3 to 5 year-olds where children learn through play. In our parent participation program, children learn alongside their parents, while siblings are cared for in our on-site nursery. Our school recognizes parents as teachers and sees their involvement in preschool education as a natural stage of development.
At R.U.M.P. children's positive sense of self is nurtured through a supportive and challenging environment. We offer an optional Pre-K Program, held Mondays from 9:30am to 12pm, which provides activities with academic emphasis for children starting Kindergarten the following September. Services
My years of serving as teacher and director in parent participation preschools have been enjoyable for many reasons. The main one, of course, is that I truly love working with young children - their sense of wonder and joy is amazing! Working together with families to meet the needs of their children has been and continues to be extremely rewarding.
Children arrive and start having fun! Ms. Michelle will have purposeful and creative interactive learning centers and fun hands on activities for the children to explore during their free play. Parents assist the children in straightening up the classroom and play ground, then Group 1 meets on the rug for a short story, game or discussion and share time.
Our preschool is filled with many stimulating opportunities. The activities are all designed to provide for the natural development of basic skills that a child needs for school and the wider social world. Click to view our slideshow. Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) is in session from September to June and follows Torrance Unified School District Holiday Schedule. We offer a part-time preschool program at affordable rates. We have a free nursery for younger siblings. R.U.M.P. is a community school and is open to all children meeting the admission requirements below.
Riviera United Methodist Preschool (R.U.M.P.) is located on the west side of Palos Verdes Boulevard approximately one-quarter mile south of Pacific Coast Highway near the intersection of Calle Miramar. From Palos Verdes Boulevard, turn west onto Calle Miramar and make an immediate right onto the access road that runs parallel to Palos Verdes Blvd.

Riviera is a welcoming church with a fantastic music program. My family chose Riviera because the congregation was so open to young families participating in worship. Pastor Amy's sermons make you think but lift you up for the week ahead. I look forward to church every week because of the uplifting service but also because the church is one big family, and everyone is loved and cared for.
