The Birth Center is more than just a place for pregnancy and birth. We offer a full range of GYN services including annual exams, Pap smears, STD testing, birth control, and more. For low-risk pregnancies, labor and birth does not need to occur in a hospital setting. Our beautiful birthing rooms were designed to be comfortable and provide a relaxing and safe environment for low-risk pregnant patients.
We offer birthing tubs for use in labor and/or birth. Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) provide a full range of lactation services to assist with lactation-related infant feeding issues. Our postpartum care includes more than just the standard six week follow-up visit.

Services
Women have the right to seek care that is medically safe, that fits their lifestyle, and that recognizes and respects their individual, physical, spiritual, psychological, and economic needs. Women and their families have the right and responsibility to assume an active role in their own healthcare.
Birth centers provide an alternative to childbirth in a hospital. Women are empowered and given control during their labor and delivery. They wear their own clothes, eat and drink during labor, and walk around. Women can bring as many support people as they like. The birthing mother labors in the shower or birth tub, on birth balls, in a birthing rocker, on a birthing stool, or in any other position that is comfortable for her.
Peggy has been working with birthing moms and dads for over 30 years. She received her RN from Bryn Mawr Hospital and worked there as a labor, delivery and postpartum nurse. Her love of teaching was obvious even then, when she developed classes in Baby Care and Breastfeeding for the couples at the hospital.
Corinne grew up in Delaware but moved away to attend college. After welcoming her first daughter as a college student, she decided she wanted to switch majors to become a registered nurse. She moved home and began nursing school and earned a certificate in Licensed Practical Nursing in 2009. She worked as an LPN for two years while continuing nursing school, and graduated in 2011 becoming a Registered Nurse.

I have delivered SEVEN babies; my 1st I had an epidural and the last 6 were natural but 5 of the 6 were birthed in a hospital and my last was born here in February 2021.
My experience was AMAZING compared to a hospital.
First I love how I met everyone of the midwives on more than one occasion so when it came close to my due date I wasn't worried about who would be on call.
Also loved how they wouldn't accept me unless I quit smoking cigs (I have been cig free since Aug 2020 because of this!!!).
I have always wanted to have a water birth but when I started having kids (98 was the 1st) this wasn

Maybe not the best choice for first time moms.
During pregnancy, care was pretty great. I got an appointment quickly. Even during Covid I was allowed to have support, which was amazing. Almost all the midwives are very sweet, make you feel comfortable, and are just genuinely pleasant. Zoe and Leigh were standout favorites. Kathleen is super resourceful and easy to talk to. I did feel some of my concerns were a little dismissed, but I can chalk that up to first time mom anxiety.
It was actual delivery where my experience turned less than great. I delivered with the one midwife I wasn’t fond

As someone with social anxiety and general anxiety disorder, receiving care at the birth center has literally changed my view of going to the doctors. Before my visit, I was terrified to seek help due to a host of negative experiences with doctors for the past few years (mainly walk in clinics, plus planned parenthood). It might sound dramatic, but just the difference in quality of the reception services and waiting room at the birth center was enough to reverse my pessimistic and fearful perception of going to the doctors. The reception ladies are kind and welcoming, the waiting room is warm,

I absolutely loved my experience with The Birth Center. I delivered my first baby there 2 weeks ago and it was everything I would have wanted in a birthing experience. It was a peaceful environment with very tranquil and attentive nurses and midwives. Zoe was the midwife who delivered our baby and my partner and I couldn’t be happier with the cafe myself and our baby girl were given. Definitely going to deliver there in the future.

AMAZING! I cannot stress enough how wonderful the staff was during my pregnancy and delivery. Linnea was so calm and collected throughout our crazy delivery (30+ hours). I can not express enough how much I would recommend delivering here. Amazing. Simply amazing. We travelled over an hour each way for all the appts and the delivery (and the false alarms) and it was so worth it. I cannot believe how wonderful my experience with them was.

I delivered my baby at The Birth Center in April 2021 and received all of my prenatal care from 10 weeks through to my last appointment at 6 weeks postpartum. I had a great experience from my first appointment with CNM Kathleen throughout. Every midwife and nurse that I met was great. Nurse Erin really cared for us immediately after my son was born. CNM Zöe was on call the evening that I gave birth - They are a gem! A great midwife with super calm but assuring energy. As someone with anxiety in healthcare settings, I appreciate Zöe for consistently asking for consent throughout my appointments

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with The Birth Center! We always left with positive things to say. All of our questions were always answered and the center did an awesome job at making sure we had all the knowledge we needed to make the pregnancy and labor experience a positive one! We felt well prepared. Everyone in staff was amazing! A special shout out to the midwife Julia who caught our baby! I couldn’t recommend them enough :)

I have worked at St. Francis for 30 years and always knew about The Birth Center and their wonderful care. My daughter Megan started working here last March and always RAVES about how much she loves working here and loves interacting with the patients. I attended the fundraiser in April and immediately fell in love with the staff, I could see why she LOVES working here! Meeting them showed me how welcoming they are to new faces. It seemed like I've known them for my whole life. I would highly recommend The Birth Center to anyone looking for OB/GYN care! Looking forward to see your new home in the

I can’t say enough positive things about this place. Each person I have met truly cares about the work they do. While I was pregnant, each appointment was a full half hour and the nurses and midwives were attentive and helpful and sincerely invested in the journey. I delivered my son there and I wouldn’t ever want to go anywhere else. They made it as positive an experience as it can be and were supportive and encouraging. After he was born, I had some trouble with nursing and through individual appointments and the breastfeeding support groups have grown to love the entire lactation team who

The Birth Center is amazing. I feel grateful to have found such a warm, supportive community to help bring my son into the world. There are so many big decisions and considerations during pregnancy and planning for childbirth. The midwives and nurses here provided the perfect balance of education, advice, support and trust for me to feel confident. I felt comfortable with every member of the staff. I would (and have!) recommend the Birth Center to anyone looking for a great place for prenatal and well woman care. They also have great classes and support groups and a superb lactation consultant
