Services
Medstar was formed as a not-for-profit community service in 1993 when two local hospitals realized that the cost and complexity of advanced life support care were greater than their local communities could support. In the 27 years since inception, Medstar has grown into the regional leader of 911 EMS delivery, as well as the leader in providing critical care and interfacility transports for healthcare systems and facilities.
As a nonprofit community service, our organization is committed to providing the most compassionate, highest level of clinical care available to the patients, communities, and facilities we serve. With over 700 team members, Medstar is one of the largest EMS and mobile health organizations in Michigan.
Medstar paramedics and EMTs provide the highest level of care available to 911 callers throughout our nine-county service area. Working in conjunction with local first response agencies, Medstar clinicians ensure the highest level of compassion and care for all patients needing transport to local emergency departments.
As healthcare systems organize around the specialization of care at specific facilities, interfacility transport becomes a key component to the effectiveness of care plans. Here is our Physician Certification Statement (PCS) It is an electronic PDF; please download and fill out. Medstar's ground critical care transport units are equipped to handle CCU and ICU patient moves between healthcare facilities.

Worst Ambulance service ever. First of all the driver who was transporting my 4 year old son never used turn signals cut across 3 lanes of traffic without signaling or giving a damn about who was in the ambulance. Then to top it off the ambulance driver took the longest route possible due to the fact they get paid off of mileage. Terrible experience and never again.I’ll transport my own son next time from hospital to hospital at least I know where I’m going and how to drive. I witnessed it all my wife was in the back of the ambulance and I was following in my truck. Bums I hope you guys go

My father is alive today because of Medstar. The Mt. Clemens firemen wanted to make him walk from his house to the sidewalk, and the Medstar guy and gal insisted that do their work up in the house, and then brought the gurney into the house to carry him out after they gave him and IV and medication (while the firemen stood around and giggled.) We found out that my Dad had 90% occlusion of two vessels in his heart, and the doctor said making him walk that far with chest pain would have probably killed him. Our family had Christmas with my Dad this year because of Medstar. There is no higher praise

I just wanted to share about our bad experience from this company. We called 911 and they are the ambulance that came but refused to take my 79 y/o Mom to the hospital when she had the COVID because they said she's not too sick without properly assessing my Mom's condition. My Mom got even worst with her breathing, her SPO2 goes down to 85-87% as soon as she moves and can't breath and really weak after several hours that we have to call 911 again and thank God it was a different company that came and took my Mom to the hospital right away. I had COVID and sick at that time too. My husband is a

I am an ICU nurse at a "large hospital" in Cleveland, OH, and was in McComb Township Michigan to help a former co-worker prepare for a move. While packing her home, her mother had a severe anaphylactic reaction, and was beginning to lose her airway. I was very impressed with the men from Medstar who treated her. They were there quickly, worked very well together, and within a few minutes had an IV started and medication delivered. Their conversation (between themselves) about the next steps if her airway closed were spot on, and although I was still concerned about her, I knew that her care was
