Services
West Edmonds Cooperative Preschool is dedicated to providing a supportive, learning-rich environment for both children and parents through hands-on participation. Our program is founded upon the fundamental value and belief that children learn best through play. By giving them that opportunity, we foster their development of the social and academic skills needed for a successful transition to primary education.
Co-op preschool is an affordable alternative to private preschool, offering a unique environment where children learn while being supported by parental involvement in the classroom. A low child-to-parent ratio allows for more activities, greater interaction with each child, and increased supervision.
Sheri Hay has over 20 years of experience working in the FLED program and co-op classrooms in various capacities, including as a para-educator for the Edmonds School District. Sheri believes that the learning-through-play model of cooperative preschools is wonderful for two year olds, as it allows them to build skills such as sharing, taking turns, and compassion.
We are located on the St. Alban's Church campus which means we have access to a beautiful play structure, vast open lawn and a small forest with a gazebo. Our students love to run along the small trail and search for the fairy & gnome houses sprinkled throughout the woods. For the 2021-22 school year, we'll also be debuting our brand new mud kitchen and sandbox area!
If you are new to the co-op system, you might be surprised to learn that WECP doesn't only teach young children. All adult co-op members are registered with Edmonds College and earn parent education credits. What does this mean for you? As a parent, you will be learning about early childhood development through your time spent working in the classroom.
