McRae, DDS, is conveniently off the 78 freeway between El Camino Real and College Blvd. The office is located next to Rady Children's Hospital and MiraCosta College.

Dr. Small grew up locally in Encinitas and has always loved North County. He graduated from La Costa Canyon High School, and was recruited to play Division 1 lacrosse at Villanova University. Studying there he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. After graduation he began to pursue his passion for dentistry at Chapman University, in their pre-health professions program.
Curtis E. McRae, D.D.S. has been providing exceptional dental care to his patients in the North San Diego County community of Oceanside for over 20 years. Dr. McRae began his dental career as a dental technician for five years after graduating from the Dental Technology Program at Orange Coast College.

After many horrible experiences with different corporate dental offices (due to my employers insurance) I was introduced to Dr. Mcrae after getting married and put on my husbands dental insurance. It was a total 180 degree difference! Dr. McRae and his staff are honest, trustworthy, and have really friendly customer service - it feels like you're seeing old friends every time you come back for a cleaning/ check up. I prefer Wendy for my cleanings because not only is she great at what she does but it's always fun to catch up on what's going on with our kids etc but my husband goes

This is hands down the best dentist in Oceanside and the entire team is amazing too. I have severe dental
anxiety and could not even tolerate a cleaning without sedation. Over the years they've worked with me and built my trust. They got me to the point of sedation free cleanings. Hey- it's a start. Highly recommend!

Well established dental care. Friendly professional staff from front desk, back office and all dental hygienists and of course Dr McRae. Their practices uses the latest dental techniques at a reasonable cost and with attention to patient needs and concerns. I recommend them to family and friends often.

Interesting how you get back to me after reading the review. The question is why is that you didn't let me acknowledge that there will have no interpreting service to communicate with you.

Wow how the times have changed. I was first to review BITD (back in the day) he was my guy, but when his assistant quit in 2015 or so it started the slow slide to the 2 stars we are at now...I had an implant done in 2017-2018 and they left me unattended in the waiting room still under sedation. I got up and started to walk home. The receptionist found me about 1/2 mile away on Rancho del Oro sleeping in the grass median on the side of the road...this really happened. My Mom or my Girlfriend were supposed to pick me up. The office called them and wanted to know If they knew where I was....seriously

Friendly, professional, and totally focused on patient comfort! I never feel like this office is just trying to take my money - I truly feel like they prioritize my dental health. They have also made every effort to address anxiety surrounding dental work, and take the time to explain all procedures.

I experienced an utterly disappointing and emotionally draining Invisalign treatment result from Dr. McRae.
After paying a hefty deposit to Dr.McRae, he completely forgot to order the Invisalign trays. Weeks went by in fact, so I called his office and was informed he forget to pay for the Invisalign trays over the phone.
When they finally arrived, attachments were glued onto various teeth of mine in order to aide in treatment.
By the end of the first day, some of the glued attachments had popped off, and by weeks end, at least half had fallen off. While it can happen that an attachment or two

I was referred to Mr. McRae from a coworker and I couldn't be happier! Holly has gracefully guided me through the scheduling process (my time is hard to work with), Wendy did my first ever cleaning so she helped me feel comfortable and made sure to check on my comfort often, Dr McRae made sure to greet me and introduce himself for my first visit which made me feel welcomed and important, and I can't say enough great things about Dr CJ Small! Dr. McRae and his staff are absolutely phenomenal. They are so helpful and treat their patients so well. I had a horrible prior experience at a different dentist and the staff here basically had to do damages control and they were so patient and empathetic towards me. Could not have asked for a better experience I wish I had gone to Dr. McRae years ago!!!

Both my husband and I struggled to find a new dentist that we liked after moving to the area. We heard good things about Dr. McRae and thought we would give him a try. We have both been VERY pleased. He does excellent, cutting edge work. He is so careful and compassionate, and has an amazing network of people he refers to if you need other work. We always feel like he is keeping us and our teeth in mind with his conservative recommendations. He never pushes for extra work to be done rather than waiting and watching. Dr. McRae is fantastic! I've had top-notch dentists in the past, and Dr. McRae did better work than both of them! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I've definitely had much better cleanings. he office staff is very accommodating and friendly, and will go above and beyond to fit you in in a pinch! Even though the office is more than 20 miles away from where I live I don't want to switch dentists, as I don't feel I could find a better one.

If you have found Dr. McRae's office consider yourself lucky! That is how I feel having discovered this extraordinary dentist and office staff. I was looking for a new dentist and a local endodontist (Dr. Sherman) recommended Dr. McRae. The recommendation was very high and so I gave it a try. During the first call to the office the accommodating and warm receptionist made it clear that this medical group was outstanding, organized and valued each patient, even new ones like me. They worked around my work schedule and got me in for my initial first visit.

The BEST dental experience I've ever had. Dr.McRae, greeted me with a warm smile, and really cared about me and my needs. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating.
I had to get a broken tooth taken out. I was scared to go in. But as soon as Kim one of his hygienist came and talked me thru it all, I felt comfortable. They didn't pressure me to get everything done right away. They mapped out a great plan to get my teeth and gums healthy again. I feel so comfortable, I have no fear of going into the dentist to get the rest of my work done.
