Courage doesn't happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life. Sometimes we were on the right path all along but couldn't see far enough into the distance to know we were headed in the right direction. Sometimes we do wind up at a dead end, but that path had to be explored first, before we could go in a different direction.

Services
Lumen Counseling accepts most major insurance. The out of network rate is $145 for the intake session and $145 for subsequent sessions. If you are out of network you will pay for sessions up front however, I am happy to bill your insurance on your behalf. If you have out of network coverage your insurance will send you a check to reimburse you the out of network rate for our sessions.
Many couples wait to come to counseling until there is a crisis and sometimes they wait so long that there have been too many crises to mitigate. I view couples counseling like relationship maintenance. You wouldn't drive you car for mile after mile and never change the oil or wait until the engine stops running to look into a tune-up, or maybe you would.
In individual therapy sessions I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding and encourage clients to explore their attitudes and feelings towards life's situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and counselor alike.
The people you consider family form a power source from which you can pull in times of need. We all start this life with a family, whether that family is composed of blood relatives, adopted parents, or foster family. This family that we acquire when we are born influences every aspect of our lives, from our first moments to our last.
