Meet the Veterinarians & Team of Pelican Rapids Animal Hospital in Pelican Rapids, MN! We're pleased to provide exceptional vet care for your pets! Please call us at 218-863-8387 to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members! Dr. Brent Henkes is from McGregor, Iowa. He received a B.A. degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa in 1999.
Here at Pelican Rapids Animal Hospital, we always welcome new clients and patients to our full service veterinary practice in Pelican Rapids, MN. We know you will be very happy with our services. Our veterinarians and staff are devoted to staying on top of the latest diagnostics, treatments, and wellness programs to maintain your pet's optimal health.
Before your first visit please gather any previous medical or adoption records you may have for your pet or if your pet has any records from a previous hospital please provide that hospital with our fax number so they can fax us your pets records. Our fax number is 218-863-1465. Your veterinarian needs this information to get an accurate record of your pet's medical history and to create the best treatment plan for your pet.
Fees for services provided by Pelican Rapids Animal Hospital are based on time, expertise required, and expense of products utilized in the treatment of your pet. Payment in full is required when services are completed and prior to patient discharge. For your convenience we accept the following forms of payment: cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

The staff at Pelican Rapids Animal Hospital is fabulous!! They are always friendly and our 4 legged family members are always so happy to see them. They are responsive and accommodating to our needs and have squeezed our pups in when we have concerns. Thank you Dr. Henkes and staff for always taking care of us (animals and humans)!

I have received the most incredible care, concern and compassion from the PRAH team for years. They have always taken their time to explain things well and listen to my input. I know they genuinely love animals… (Esp my little nugget, Dori ❣️). My doggie was always comfortable there, too. Scrambled right in the door - bc it's such a good place.

We've always had great experiences over the past almost seven years we've brought Elli to PRAH (and formerly Weckwerth). Whether it was a regular wellness checkup or an unscheduled medical issue, they've always provided appropriate care with gentle kindness. We've never felt rushed and everyone seemed more than willing to spend as much time as we needed to answer our questions.

I am so thankful for this vet! I have been impressed with their ability for flexible scheduling, affordable services, and the care they provide to my fur babies. I have been going here for over 3 years and have had a good experience each time. They have been available for emergencies involving back issues, eye and ear injuries, and even mailing… needed meds or other items. They are so compassionate and easy to work with. I also appreciate that they provide me with information so I can make the best decision based off the available options and recommendations.

A month ago my dog Duke passed away due to a toxic response from a medication. When I brought him into Dr. Bent, he did not take my concerns to heart. Rather, he ran $400 worth of useless tests - with no answers. When I told him I thought it was a toxic response, he laughed off my concern and said “you can find anything on the internet. I could… find that a dog died due to water because he drown in his own water dish.”
We ran every test Dr. Bent requested and the only recommendation and option we received was to give Duke and anti-nausea shot. This I refused because he was vomiting
