The staff was excellent & the establishment was very clean. Our beach side room w/ a king & double bed on the 1st floor was as it was pictured online. The view from room was amazing & the balcony area was nice. There were lots of small seashells in the soft sand. Ducks also came to visit us while playing in the sand with my 3 year old daughter. It is a private beach so not crowded at all. If you do plan on going into the beach, I'd suggest not getting a floor room to keep the sand in the room to a minimum. 😆 My family really enjoyed the pool and the small arcade. Breakfast wasn't the best but

Simply THE best place we’ve stayed in a long time. The front desk was friendly and helpful, the entire place was VERY clean, including (especially!) our room. The room had many extra “small” things that made the stay a little better, like a full sized garbage, soft Kleenex, extra pillows that were fluffy, extra towels, and lots of access plugs for our electronics, to name a few things. It’s super close (and has easy-access) to the airport, which was a plus. Overall, we had a very nice visit, and I’d recommend this place to stay for sure!

This hotel is decent. No major complaints. It was clean and the staff was great. It seems that some of it could be updated. Also the layout is a bit difficult to navigate. I stayed here after getting a discounted hotwire rate and it was for sure worth the price. But I'm not sure I would pay the full rate to stay here.

We stayed 2 nights in October 2021 and loved the hotel. The decoratuons gave a great beach vibe, the rooms and public spaces were very clean and neat. The staff were friendly and answered all of our questions about local reataurants and their reccomendations of places to eat were spot on. Close to all toirist areas but yet you feel secluded with a great beach and all the ameneties of a beach. Take time to see the local sites and suppot the local bussinesses! Will stay here again when traveling through.

We had a nice view of the beach and upon arrival were satisfied with our room. However do to lack of help services were less than expected for the cost of our room. Given the problem of help, I would consider staying again. I must add that the breakfast offerings were very poor. Don't bother with breakfast!!

There are endless places to stay in traverse city and they all look pretty darn nice from the outside. (Competition must be fierce) My family booked a trip to traverse city with only a week ahead of time since our Florida trip fell through, but we are so pleased with how this back up plan is working out. The area is absolutely gorgeous and there are plenty of fun things to do and outdoor activities to take part in, and of course Endless fine dining and fun dining options. We got a deal according to hotels.com on a junior suite at sugar beach and though the pictures were a little dull it looked

Amazing location, its right on the east bay beach. The view from the room was so serene and beautiful. It has a private beach so not over crowded. It also has a water activity counter for people interested in renting jet-ski or a boat.
Indoor hot pool is nice for families. Only bad thing was the breakfast. They have only 3 options to choose from, which is delivered to the room packaged. Packed eggs smell weird. Only edible option in breakfast was muffin and orange juice( packaged).

Our ground floor room facing the beach was perfectly adequate, but a bit dated. The room was large, with a small fold out couch that could provide a place for children to sleep. We liked that our room had both a microwave and small refrigerator, as well as a coffee maker. The Continental breakfast is a muffin or box of cereal with a small yogurt that they drop off next to your room door in the morning. The hotel has both an indoor pool and a nice beach (but there are a limited number of beach chairs and umbrellas.
*beach chairs are first come, no reservations)

I have been coming up to Traverse City and staying at Grand Beach with my dad every year since 2013. We love being right on the bay and across from Pirate’s Cove. The pool and hot tub are fun. The beach is nice. The rooms are very comfortable and nice, all equipped with a flat screen TV, fridge, and microwave. The suits are very luxurious. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night is relaxing. Prices are reasonable, but not cheap. Here’s my complaint: The breakfast used to be incredible. A nice buffet with a variety of fresh and tasty options. But due the pandemic (which is practically

Are you crazy?! We will be canceling our reservation right now. I should have been suspect when the total for the reservation didn't show up until AFTER we put in our credit card. There is NO WAY we are paying $100 for taxes and fees!

Hotel was overall okay. Our room was double booked. Due to COVID, breakfast was going to be delivered to our room, however when we called to get an update since it was past our requested time of delivery, the staff said they forgot to bring it. Likely wouldn't stay here again.

Got in trouble for a noise complaint, totally laughable seeming that it was only 10 o clock and baldy was on patrol through the halls. Trying to spend our trip to have some fun and this place was having none of it. Total posers acting like they welcome a good time and then hitting us with the lockdown. On top of all that there's no a/c in the hot tub area. Won't be back. Don't go. Spend money elsewhere. The lounge chairs are from the 90's on the beach and aside from the bugs in the room, the place smells.

The staff was very Friendly and that's pretty much the only reason I'm giving 2 stars. The hotel itself is outdated. The elevator is awkwardly placed on the other side of the building no where near the lobby. I don't recommend The waterfront rooms because of the ridiculous amount of flies that get in the room. ALOT of flies. Couldn't sleep, just left. The 2 bedroom suite is not ideal as the one room is inside the other and rooms share a bathroom. So if you're in the smaller room in the suite, you pretty much have to ask permission from the other room to go. The beach is

Incredibly disappointed with how Sugar Beach staff has treated us, specifically the managers John & Michelle who were on duty for Memorial Day...

Let me start by saying this, we booked through booking.com for Sunday, May 24th - Tuesday, May 26th. We saw that booking.com was offering rooms for Memorial Day for $10 a night. I even called Sugar Beach directly to confirm this was the case. When I called the hotel they said, "if that's the rate you booked at, we will honor it". Before I got off the phone I asked if we could bump up our checkin time from 4pm on Sunday to a noon checkin

This was our third time staying at Sugar Beach and we cannot recommend it enough. The staff is great, very accommodating, awesome breakfast and the suites are very roomy, we get the family room with two people so we can each have our own "room". Highly recommended!

There is no reason I can find why Sugar Beach Resort doesn't deserve 5 stars. Our stay was exceptional. This was our third visit here and it has been recently updated. There was three of us ladies and we booked the family suite. Our suite had a king bed and sofa and then a separate bedroom with a queen bed. The beds were comfy, the room was immaculate, and there was plenty of space for the three of us.

Sugar Beach is right on the bay with their own private access to the beach. There is plenty of lounge chairs and tables set up. If swimming in the bay isn't your thing they have an indoor

I would have loved to give 5 stars, BUT....
I came here in the off season so that means lots of open rooms. I asked for a view of the bay. Well I got that plus noise from everyone that walked into the door. They gave me a handicap room on the bottom level that was located right when you walk in the door. I heard the door open all night and everyone's conversation, the ice drop... all night, all night! If this was the busy season sure but when it's off season DO NOT USE THAT ROOM! Also I couldn't even enjoy my view and had to keep the curtains closed bc I was also at the spot where

Beach is 10 paces from lower rooms. Very happy I found this place. Saved me $125 per night compared to my other favorite TC hotel.

Nice family resort hotel with a huge beach and an abundance of chaise lounge chairs with many outdoor and watercraft sports available at an extra charge. Grand Traverse Bay/Lake Michigan water is very clear so great for playing or swimming in. This is definitely a family orientated and a very active hotel in prime season so if you're looking for a quiet place this may not be your first choice. Seemed like there were many family reunions and friend reunions going on. Lots of partying into the wee hours on the 1st floor balcony/ patio rooms.

We had a balcony suite room. Bed was awesome w
