I worked with Jonathan to get a seiko for me. Not too high-roller status, just a nice quality watch for me as an enthusiast. Even though I wasn’t buying a Patek or what have you I was treated promptly, professionally and efficiently. Would highly recommend and when Covid madness is over I hope to go in and drool over some wrist candy.

He took extra time out of his day to educate me about the various brands and helped me decide and acquire a Grand Seiko. Didn’t have the pieces I was looking for but Jonathan was amazing just as everyone has said. Took tons of time to talk horology with me and shared some truly interesting stories about the brands they carry. Also very knowledgeable about others. Will definitely be staying in touch with him to see if we can work together to find the piece I’m looking for.

Sydel & Sydel is the gold standard of jewelers. Throughout the pandemic they’ve made themselves available to customers. Yesterday, the owner delivered my rings to me at a car dealership while waiting for my car to be serviced. If that isn’t customer service at the highest level, I don’t know what is! The staff are incredibly friendly as well!

Awesome experience working with Jon to buy a pair of diamond earrings for my wife. I don't know a ton about jewelry but Jon was very patient and explained not only the cut/clarity component of diamonds but also how difficult (apparently) it can be to find a "matching" set of diamonds. He sent me several photos and videos of possible options and I selected the ones I wanted, in the price point I wanted to be in.
With Covid, everything is a little goofy right now but he was very accommodating about setting up a time for me to view the earrings. Bottom line, my wife has a GREAT

Sydel & Sydel is a fantastic jeweler. They helped create an exquisite ring when I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere else. They matched the very specific quality of stones and the karat of gold I wanted. I literally had tried 4 other brick and mortar AND online jewelers and thought it couldn't be found or made. Long running family owned business in the loop. The entire team here is a pleasure to work with and most importantly they have great integrity. I initially stumbled into this store a couple years ago, and I am now a customer for life. The level of service is amazing and their estimates on price/time have always been accurate (if not leaning in my favor). The amount of knowledge and experience in this shop is also impressive on everything from vintage watches to inputs and production process for various brands. Brought a ring in to have a new back put on it. I was told that an estimate would be forthcoming, After I left the store i realized that they had not asked what size i wanted. 8 days later i walked into the store and asked about the estimate. The lady told me that it was one price and due to the confusion, lowered the estimate to $100. Then I told her the size that i wanted.

Giving this place two stars based on watch repair.
Been an unfortunate long time customer paying 30 dollars for battery replacement for years. Took my watch in for what I thought was a routine battery replacement and was informed that it needed a total overhaul expected to cost 150 dollars. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what the diagnosis was but something having to do with Quartz watches normally just stop working after 6 years or so (which sounded bogus to me). Took my watch back to get a second opinion.
Went to a dedicated watch repair place in the loop, and the person discovered

This couldn't have gone more smoothly. I had 2 watch batteries to replace and both required a water seal pressure test. One was a Fossil and the other was Skagen, so they weren't necessarily even fine jewelry watches to begin with. Regardless, the woman behind the counter was super friendly and professional.
Both watches, battery + water seal were $40 each (this is avg pricing - I checked), and were done the NEXT DAY. This is awesome because places like Macy's will send it away to get done and it takes 2-3 weeks to get back. Sydel & Sydel HAS the machinery in-store to do this

If I had more stars to add, I would. I have been working with the Sydels for years, and in the Chicago landscape, I cannot imagine a better experience at a jewelry store. Family run, decades in the business, and with the kind of personal attention that is rare these days. I wanted to put together something special and unique for my girlfriend as I proposed, and they knocked it out of the park.

Outstanding experience with Sydel & Sydel. From resizing my wedding ring to building a custom pendant with a meaningful family jewel. Jonathan and his team, have been impressively knowledgeable about their craft. They sure make their customers feel welcome, relaxed and well cared for. Very professional, family like establishment you can trust, never pushy.

Stopped in to window shop,left with a watch band, education and new go-to place for my timepiece habit. Jonathan is knowledgeable, patient, informative and most importantly; is less interested in the sale and more interested in satisfying your needs, whether that be for information, or an actual sale.
Will go back to purchase something simply because Jonathan made me feel comfortable; that's what it used to be about, nice to see there are still some who still "get it."
Whether you're in the loop, or not as they have Saturday hours as well, you should check this place out

Well, I completely ruined my engagement ring 3 days before going on vacation with my future in-laws (Don't competitively play broomball with expensive jewelry on). Sydel & Sydel are in my building so I ran to them and begged them to fix it since Zales would take weeks before I'd get it back. They were very kind, calmed me down and assured me they would have it back before I left. Not only did they fix it (replace a diamond, reshaped the band), they cleaned it, didn't charge me an arm and a leg, and I had it before I left my office the next day. I cannot thank them enough for

I needed the battery replaced on my watch and Sydel & Sydel were the closest I could find to my office to do the job. The price for changing the battery was less than other places in the loop.
It's a small shop, not as many sparkly things to look at as I'd hoped. While I was picking up my watch later that day I asked about earrings. I was looking for a pair of round diamond studs set in platinum, a fairly standard thing for a jewelry store to have...apparently not. He did say they could make them for me, which is most likely the way I would go anyway, but it would be nice

When I went back to pick up my watch, the gentleman who helped me (the owner's son, I believe) was extremely nice.
He showed me my watch, asked me about it, and then chatted about the new collection that is in the store. He was very pleasant and seemed to be actually interested in my opinion - something that is extremely rare in today's society.
I wish he was the only person I interacted with both visits, then maybe I would be able to give this place a higher rating. Unfortunately, first impressions are lasting, and I don't ever want to deal with that woman again.

Jeff and Jon are solid people. The bad reviews must be mistaken- not quite sure why they are leaving random, almost unrelated reviews.. some even sound like competitor jeweler's looking to steal Sydel^2's business with obvious referral's to other locations of business.

This is my favorite jewelry store. I've had jewelry stores in the past that were okay and some (Tourneau) that were horrible...rude service and uneducated sales people. At Sydel & Sydel, that's not the case. The entire staff is great to work with, but Jon is my guy and he's fantastic. He's attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.
