For proper siding installation it is important to make sure several key components are done correctly. The building envelope wrap, flashing, caulking and siding should be done properly and to industry standards. If these elements are not done properly you can suffer from water intrustion, which can eventually lead to rot and cause costly siding and dry rot repairs.
Siding is installed over the vapor barrier. Proper siding installation is the first line of defense from exterior water intrusion. To hold the siding tightly in place we nail it directly to the framing/studs using the proper fasteners. The use of galvanized or stainless steel nails is recommended as other types of nails will rust and break over time.
Sometimes people think that they have to replace their siding on the entire house and it costs a lots of money. So people keep putting it off for a future time, when they have enough in their budget to get their siding fixed. But this is not always true. Sometimes fixing the damaged parts of your siding is all it takes to fix the exterior of your house for many years to come.
Proper flashing is an important part of the siding installation process. The purpose of flashing is to intercept and direct water down and away from the building. If used properly with all exterior elements of your house you will have an effective system for water drainage and thus prevent water intrusion which can eventually lead to dry rot.

When our rowhouse discovered we had long standing dry rot issues under our porches we contacted a number of contractors to submit proposals. Decco had the best price of the contractors that understood the scope of the work. Unfortunately the damage was much more extensive once the project was begun and the porches were opened up. While this was not good news Nik and Demetrie made sure we were kept involved every step of the way, showing us what they found and how the problems could be addressed. Throughout the project they did a great job controlling costs but making sure we would be 100% structurally

We knew we had some water damaged channel siding and knew it came from excess water funneling to one spot on the deck that was not current code. The house was vintage 1979 but had new lifetime guaranteed roofing shingles and new roofing boards. "Nik" and Dimitri came out and gave us an estimate for what they could see that needed repair including the rot on the bottom of the siding. We accepted their bid and they started in two weeks (waiting for the rain to quit). We noticed some blisters in the channel board 5 layer paint that turned out to be filled with
