After serving in WWII and surviving Pearl Harbor, Charles Yater went to work in the jewelry business in 1937, founding the C.M. Yater Manufacturing Jewelry Company in 1951. He worked very hard to grow his business while he and his wife raised two young sons, Greg and Mark. After graduating from college, both sons joined the family business.
In 1996 C.M. Yater Co. moved to North Dallas and became C.M. Yater & Sons Fine Jewelry Manufacturing. Today our family business continues to serve Dallas from our single store location, located just off Preston Road near Northwest Highway. We provide attentive, knowledgeable service and a wide selection of fine jewelry and Swiss watches for our distinguished clientele.

Frederick Goldman founded his company in 1948 as a one-man operation specializing in wedding rings.
Our Rolex factory-trained technician has over 25 years experience and handles watch repairs on these delicate and complex mechanisms. Yater is an outstanding jeweler. He completely restored and enhanced my husband's grandmother's engagement ring and made it so a band could fit under the ring, which was previously not possible. He custom designed a beautiful wedding band that would fit under the engagement ring, and we had so much fun picking out the loose stones for the band. The staff here is all extremely friendly and personable. We are very happy with our experience working with Yater and highly recommend Yater for all your jewelry needs.

The team at C M Yater could not be more knowledgeable and helpful with finding the right piece of jewelry for you. My husband and I were new to the process. C M Yater was recommended to us by a coworker. Their staff made the experience joyful and stress free. They answered all our questions (and we had a lot of them), provided feedback when we asked for their professional opinion, and bent over backwards to make our requests happen. They work fast. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. We had a terrible experience with them when we commissioned them to design a custom ring. The ring came back with the side diamonds misaligned, and after a couple discussions with Greg Yater where we tried to get the problem fixed, it was never right. After getting a second opinion, we went back a couple months later to speak with Greg (politely), and he was immediately confrontational. He wouldn't even look at the ring, refused to discuss our issue at all, told us he would not do anything to fix it (and that he does not back up his work), and threatened to

Yater & Sons was a referral from a close friend. We brought a family stone for setting. The personal attention, custom design, and atmosphere was everything I had hoped for. My ring was designed in October 1994. My husband has promised me a new design for our 20th anniversary, I look forward to designing a new setting that will last a lifetime.

By far the best experience shopping for an engagement ring in the Dallas area. Mark Yater sat down with us, listened to us, and we worked our way through nearly two dozen settings before he found us the perfect ring. He explained everything along the way. He enthusiastically agreed to set a diamond we had brought with us into the ring, re-sized it, and had it ready for pick-up two hours later. Even once I've moved from the Metroplex, I will shop for fine jewelry here.

I have to admit I know nothing about Jewelry and that I did not do any comparison shopping. My friend did and he found that the prices at Yater and Sons were competitive. What sets this place apart from a lot of the other places is that the person who you are sitting with talking over the jewelry will a lot of times be making your piece. I went in and talked to Greg Yater about ten times and enjoyed it. He helped me pick out an engagement ring for my fiance that she loves and he kept within the budget that we initially talked about. He even explained how to stretch the dollars. I do not know
