Master stylist George Ferrer has owned and operated XL Salon for over 25 years, focusing on the best practices and techniques in hair design and color to meet the needs of men and women of all backgrounds. Our First time color appointments require a consultation prior to booking an appointment. First time color appointment includes: an in depth consultation. We will discuss your hair, texture, style and complexion. We will help you choose the right type of hair color to achieve the desired look you are trying to achieve or we will make suggestions that we think will enhance your natural beauty.
We install and service DreamCatchers Hair Extensions, the world's best permanent, reusable, non-damaging hair extensions. DreamCatchers can be styled, curled, and ironed, allowing you to treat them as you would your own natural hair. Extension Maintenance is charged at $100 per hour and will need to be maintained approximately every six to 8 weeks.
Add beautiful, exciting highlights without altering hair color. Highest quality real feathers are easily applied to your hair to create a subtle or dramatic effect. Made to last, they can be washed, dried, flat-ironed or curled. They last a lifetime but are easily removed in a matter of seconds, and reapplied without worry.

If you love Aveda color and their amazing products then this is where you need to go to have your hair done!! George has been in the business for over a decade or more and is sooooo talented and ethical. I brought a friend of mine with me yesterday and she was so happy with her new style and I absolutely love my beautiful red color! His salon is gorgeous by the way and spotless. George Ferrer is fabulous. Not only has he improved my hair (it was in a bad way when I found him) I adore going to visit him. I have been going to XL for 5-6 years now and George and Victoria are a tour-de-force: fun, insightful and always kind. I can't add much more to my review that hasn't been said by the previous 2 reviewers. George IS a hair god. My hair has never been cut so well. He obviously knows how to work with fine hair. His assistant Veronica is sweet and efficient. The shop is beautiful and restful. Going there is a mini-vacation from which I emerge feeling lovely.

I've been seeing George for color and general styling for quite a few years, first in San Mateo and now in Burlingame. He is a true professional. Over the years we've adjusted the color a bit. I've tried hair straightening and had many, many cuts and blow outs. I absolutely trust George's knowledge of hair care and the products he uses. His pricing is consistent with his quality.
