As much a part of Savannah as city squares and Spanish moss, The DeSoto blends the elegance, history, and charm of one of America's oldest cities with a playful dose of Southern spirit. Step inside our downtown Savannah hotel for foie gras and fried green tomatoes, or meet us on the back porch for a "Sip & Stroll" walking tour.

The DeSoto's second-floor pool terrace might be Savannah's best-kept secret. Think modern swimming pool, firepits and fountains, and a cabana bar serving hand-crafted cocktails. Linger over an early morning cafe au lait at Buffalo Bayou, savor innovative Southern cuisine at 1540 Room, raise a toast to modern mixology at Proof & Provision.
Services
The DeSoto reigns as "Savannah's hotel, " a beloved landmark that has played gracious hostess to presidents, local personalities, and visitors since 1890. Treasured period details, including original crystal chandeliers and terracotta tiles, mix seamlessly with museum-worthy contemporary art, creating a thoughtful juxtaposition between history and modern-day style.
Offering unmatched views of the Savannah skyline, our light and airy rooms and suites pair modern amenities with residential-style comforts, including upholstered headboards, down-filled duvets and pillows, and luxe cotton sheets. Soft neutrals mix with pops of maritime blue and shimmering finishes to create a stylish oasis in the heart of downtown Savannah.
Our Park, Sip, and Stroll package is your invitation to slip into slow gear. Stroll through the Historic District with cocktails-to-go in hand, kick back at Proof & Provision, and take in sweeping skyline views from the pool terrace. This package includes valet parking for one car and two select drinks per night.
Inspired by the charm and energy of Savannah's Historic District, The DeSoto's 20,000 square feet of newly renovated event space blends classic elegance and modern hospitality with magnificent skyline views. Our singular spaces include a grand ballroom, 11 breakout rooms, and Madison Square itself.
Take your taste buds on a tour of culinary bliss. Home to three local eateries that have become familiar favorites, The DeSoto further enhances Savannah's reputation as one of the country's hottest culinary destinations. Popular amongst foodies and cocktail connoisseurs, Southern Living named Savannah #3 in The South's Best Food Cities.

Stay for two days was ok. But I have now made about 25 calls over the last 3 days, only getting the voice mail for the so-called "southerly" concierge every single time over and over. Left a couple of messages too. Also filled out a form on their website 3 days ago and left a message with reservation. No way to get in touch with the front desk. We forgot a special pillow in our room and I'm now genuinely concerned that they don't care at all. Probably also explains why they have to run actual ads on hotels.com instead of relying on the regular listing?

Great hotel! The lobby is beautiful and it’s in a great location with nice views. The staff was friendly and attentive as well. Only down side is the walls are extremely thin and you can hear people talk, cough, shower, even breath in the room next to you. The person in the room next to us had their alarm clock going off in the morning for 20 minutes 🤣 Very clean place and has good snack/ food options too. Would skip out on the valet parking, there are cheaper options one block away

So we arrived at the hotel on New Year’s Eve and checked in with Heather. We were given the room 602. When we get to the room we immediately noticed it’s not the room that we had paid for. What we had reserved was the executive king room which has two large windows. It must have been maybe 3-4 minutes after arriving in the room that I called the front desk to complain and spoke with Heather. I explained that this room was not the one that we booked and she informed us that the room that we had booked was sold out. I asked why nobody said anything to us when we checked in or gave us a call before

During our stay at the DeSoto, we enjoyed the location of the hotel a lot. It was so easy to get anywhere in the downtown area by foot and lots of great restaurants and coffee shops are close by.
Our major negative point is that the price- value relation felt off by a lot. Given their room rates, their room finishes felt very cheap and we could hear everything that was going on in the rooms around us.
If we come back to Savannah, we’ll probably look for another hotel in the same area cause the location was just fantastic.

Did not stay in this hotel while in Savannah but as I was walking through the area, I was met with Noah and Jeremiah (valet attendants). They both went out of their way to answer questions that I had and brought me some cold drinks. I am a heart patient and was getting very dehydrated when they offered to get me something I tried to pay them and they wouldn't have it. If both of these young men are a reflection of the rest of the Desoto's staff, I will never stay any where else while visiting Savannah. Well done guys.

Hotel is in horrible condition. Glass broke in shower as I was about to get in. All rooms are dirty and scuffed. Paint chipped, doors dented, materials scuffed, furniture and tvs are old. Staff at check in had masks around chin and not covering face.
Basic safety and maintenance should be a minimum standard for any hotel.
No chance this is anything more than a 2 star hotel.

We only stayed for 1 night but we loved it. Very clean and staff was friendly. The location was great and we walked to river walk. The room had a great view and was clean and fresh. Their were also many restaurants and cafes near the hotel. Also the restaurant in the hotel was very good. The restaurants farm to table concept was enjoyable. Recommend getting the bourbon ice cream.

Well I can honestly say we were a bit apprehensive when we noticed the hotel is no longer part of the Hilton Collection. It is pretty run down since our last visit a few years ago. Yes the lobby is flashy and decorated nicely, but the "executive balcony" guest room was a let down.
Broken lamps, empty body wash, inferior bed linens, broken sliding door to balcony with a lock that has been ripped out of the frame. The sliding door not closing properly meant the traffic noise and revelry from being 8 floors directly above the party space meant for difficult, if any sleep.
The hotel did check

Just spent 2 wonderful nights at this beautiful hotel. The friendliest staff I have ever seen. The location is perfect for walking all over the city. The rooms are small but lovely. Incredibly comfortable beds. Plan to stay here every time I visit Savannah

Stayed here twice in the past 12 months. Both times the room we were assigned was not cleaned. The first time the bed and pillows were full of hair. This most recent time the shower was full of someone's pubes. Absolutely disgusting. Stay away.

We enjoyed staying here for a long weekend / wedding. Easy to walk to all parts of downtown. Felt safe. Valet service was good and was able to find street parking on the weekend for free. We enjoyed getting coffee conveniently downstairs at the hotel’s coffee shop. We had some car trouble on the morning that we were checking out and they allowed us to extend our room til the afternoon while our car was being worked on, which we really appreciated. Only thing I would change is having a mini fridge and microwave in the standard rooms for convenience. Otherwise everything was great. Thank you for

We were catfished when selecting this hotel. The building was built in 1870.. so if u like old charm maybe it’s for u but there filters placed on the pics online were very misleading. So just walking into the room was disappointing. Paid more for a balcony that looks like they have never been updated never seen anything like it. But what really… topped the cake for my poor experience was the fact that the air in my hotel room did not work. Would not eVen come on. What was insulting was after reporting it multiple times each different staff seemed to not know about the complaint. When

I don't understand the mixed reviews. I liked this hotel quite a bit; it's gorgeous and the staff are super nice. The location is great! The pool space is amazing, and there's a bar on site which is great! The pool is pretty cold despite it being outdoors and I do wish that they had a coffee maker in the room... also, patio chairs would be nice. Otherwise, I would stay again.

The pool is great, the location is great, the hotel bar is great. The staff kind of sucks. The room was small but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. The views from the balcony were nice, but there were no chairs? I'm sure Covid threw a wrench in things, but they should try harder to do better to accommodate their guests.

Valet is freaking horrible. Just very unprofessional. I'm staying in your Hotel today in room 612. And one of your employees needs to be fired on spot. I have a Harley Motorcycle, I understand he can't park it. But when I asked him to let me in gate, he had an attitude and was pissy. He asked why was my ticket not on vehicle. I said yeah its a Motorcycle, where would I place it. . I should it to him in my bag, ... well it needs to be on vehicle. Like dude. He are my room keys and ticket .... this is unfreaking believable. Never again

I had a nice and memorable stay at The DeSoto Three years ago, and If I come back to savannah, I would still prefer here among other big hotels in savannah ga. The staff was very accommodating and the place itself is so clean and has an artistic design. I love it! I saw this the first time at when I needed to look for hotels for my friend's wedding.

Dingy. Arrived to a room that with door open and all cabinets and drawers open. We were told this was because the room had been freshly inspected. Ok.

Bathroom sink didn't drain. In the morning shower barely worked and standing water in tub that wouldn't drain. Front desk did not seem to care.

Staff at the overpriced hotel bar were insanely rude.

Its one virtue is its location but would never stay here again or recommend it. I've had third world accomdatioms that at least had working indoor plumbing.

We chose this hotel as an upgrade from your typical hotels and while the lobby was beautiful and even the outside the rooms did not live up to the luxe I was expecting. I'm glad we didn't pay full price for our room otherwise I would have checked out. The valet is pricey $34/night it was a nice experience but thinking I'll skip stay somewhere else next time. My husband complained the tv kept going out and the rooms could use some work. It looks like updates were made but they didn't repair the previous fixtures.

Had a wonderful stay at the Desoto. What a view from this hotel! If you have a choice, book the corner of the hotel that looks out on the basilica. Rooms were wonderfully appointed and loved the glass encased shower with tiled floors. Amanda, the concierge, is fantastically helpful and in the running for Clef D'Ors! Will certainly stay here again. Our new Savannah go to hotel!
