Services
We understand that you have many choices of funeral homes to care for you, your family, and friends. We are grateful that you have selected Olson's to assist you in honoring your loved one. We are a family-owned funeral home treating our client families as if they were our own. Since 1888, our family has believed that the most valuable thing we own is our good reputation.
Olson Funeral and Cremation Services has been serving Rockford, Sycamore, Kirkland, and Genoa area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come. One of the early funeral directors in Rockford was named Ugarf who was assisted by a young farmer from New Milford, Illinois by the name of Nels Olson.
Our dedicated staff are here to provide support, compassion, and information to help you through your journey of grief and the celebration of your loved one's life. Scott is a native of Rockford and is the fifth generation of Olson's to serve the area as a funeral director under the family's ownership.
When a death occurs at home in an immediate, unexpected, or unsupported situation, please contact or have a family member contact emergency personnel immediately by calling 911. If you call the funeral home, we are required to have you contact emergency services prior to us bringing your loved one into our care.
In recent years, cremation has become more popular, simply as a matter of personal preference. It is a form of final disposition whereby the body is transformed by intense heat to a state of small skeletal fragments - not the fine ash that some imagine. The remains are placed in a temporary container until an urn is selected for permanent containment.
