At Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, caring for our fellow comrades in arms and their families is an honor and a privilege. We take care to ensure every veteran receives the honors and benefits they so rightfully earned by serving our country. Daniel Symonds is a second-generation licensed Funeral Director and U.S. Army Reservist, following in his father's footsteps of military and funeral service.
A funeral is a ceremony for celebrating, honoring and remembering the life of a person who has passed away. While specific customs, traditions and practices differ across cultures and religions, all funerals serve the key purpose of giving survivors a special time and place to say goodbye and find comfort and healing in each other.
It is our honor to assist veterans and their family members with pre-arrangement for funeral services. That is why we offer a FREE pre-planning guide to help you plan ahead and understand all your funeral options and VA benefits. As a veteran-owned funeral home, we know that a proper military burial is the least we can do to send off those who served our country.

We are so glad that we chose Symonds and Madison Funeral home to help us with the loss of our mother and in helping us transport her, in her coffin, back home to her birth place, El Salvador. She is now residing at home in peace along with her Husband. Daniel and his team jumped through hoops with the El Salvadorian consulate downtown Chicago, as well as, the funeral home we chose in El Salvador to get everything properly in place. It took several trips and attempts to get all the necessary documents completed properly and they worked like champions to get this complete in the timeframe we were

Symonds and Madison was the right funeral home for the family of Joyce Hopper ( 1930- 2021).Daniel and Jennifer were very helpful and communicated with us from the beginning to the end of the service. Michael Murschel,SD did a wonderful job describing our mother and asking the family about the service he put together. At a difficult time we trusted the three of them to guide us thru this brand new experience.we are very appreciative of all they did ..Thanks to all at Symonds and Madison Funeral Home.

Daniel and Jenifer were very sympathic with our loss, there wasn’t any pressure. Daniel listened to our wants and questions and showed us many alternatives so we could make our own decisions. They walked us through this process and explained exactly what was going to be done.
Daniel encouraged us to call any time which we did often. They answered every time and they took the time and listened then answered our new questions.
Daniel and Jenifer truly wanted to help. They made a very very difficult time not so hard.

On behalf of our entire family, we want to thank you and everyone at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home for the caring and professionalism in which you handled the military service for our brother. Knowing his last wishes were carried out with grace, comforted all of us. Thank you for your preparation and organization with the VFW to provide TAPS, Flag Folding, Flag Presentation and the Rifle Volley.
Thank you again Danial Symonds and your staff.

Thank you very much Daniel! You went above and beyond for my brother Richard's farewell ceremony! Most of all you welcomed us like family. If Richard could come down and give a last hooray he would! He's smiling up in heaven and thanks you as well!

Mr. Symonds provided an excellent space, service & burial for our beloved uncle.  Even with the extra burden of the pandemic they provided a dignified memorial along with video testimonials from loved ones who could not attend the funeral.  The service had a limit on the number of family members present per pandemic protocol.  The extra family sacrifices were eased with the professionalism of the Symonds-Madison staff.

Thank you Daniel and Jennifer for the excellent professional service that was provided in assisting me with my Mother funeral arrangements from Nashville, TN. With all the emails, texts and phone calls during the transition took off the stress of trying to make arrangements from another state. Kudos to you Jennifer for having patience with me. I greatly appreciated the kind and compassionate service. Merry Christmas and a Bless New Year! - Michele
