Services
Australian manual therapy was created by an Australian physical therapist, Geoffrey Maitland. He developed specific spinal mobilization and manipulation techniques after studying from a variety of different kinds of manual treatment practitioners. He also devised a thorough evaluation and assessment process that was based on the nature of a patients symptoms, and a manual assessment of joint mobility.
Schroth therapy is physical therapy that consists of specific exercises and hands on mobilizations proven to prevent the increase or actually decrease the degrees of curve angles of scoliosis and kyphosis in adolescents. It also decreases pain and prevents curve progression in adults with scoliosis and kyphosis.
MDT is a physical therapy treatment technique that involves repetitive motion of a restricted joint in order to regain pain free mobility. Robin McKenzie a physiotherapist, founded MDT in the 1950's. He observed that a patient's back pain resolved after resting prone in an extended position.
He then devised a system of repetitive and sustained postures in "preferred directions" the direction of motion that eliminated pain in back, neck and peripheral joints. He founded the McKenzie Institute. The McKenzie Institutes support and document research in the McKenzie method, and organize courses so that physical therapists can become certified McKenzie practitioners.

Muscle energy is an Osteopathic way of mobilizing the spine by using opposing or antagonist muscles to turn off a muscle, attached to the spine, that pulls the spine out of alignment. This is because our bodies are programmed to relax muscles that oppose the motion that we move a joint. For example when we straighten or extend our knees, the muscles that bend or flex our knees are inhibited.
