Tacoma Aikikai
Aikido Tacoma Aikikai is dedicated to sharing aikido to empower youth and adults in the South Puget Sound. Through rigorous physical training, aikido develops harmony and well-being inside ourselves and throughout our world. Tacoma Aikikai embraces traditional aikido training, rooted in the lineage and culture of Japanese martial traditions.

We are committed to creating a inclusive and supportive dojo, mutually respecting people of all race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, background, faith, age, and ability. Training at Tacoma Aikikai includes both aikido and aikido weapons (jyo, bokken, and tanto). Iaido (Japanese sword) and zazen meditation are also practiced at the dojo.
Services
Membership at Tacoma Aikikai provides unlimited access to training within each program: adults (includes aikido weapons), teens, youth, and iaido. In all classes, mixed levels train together, and individual instruction is geared for each student. Beginner's are welcome at any time. While there is no limit to how much you can train, we recommend a minimum of two days a week to progress.
Tacoma Aikikai offers classes to youth age 7 and up. Classes provide a healthy dose of physical activity, with movement that cultivates physical fitness and cooperation. Physical contact with the mat, the teacher, and other youth helps students feel comfortable in their bodies and their environment, increasing confidence and spatial awareness.

Amazing, professional, compassionate instructor at this dojo, who apprenticed directly with the world's top teachers in Japan. This dojo has so much to offer!

I began training at Tacoma Aikikai almost a year ago with my son, and couldn't be more pleased with our choice. We looked around at, and heavily researched, a number of other dojos (Aikido and other martial arts) and found the atmosphere of Tacoma Aikikai to be the best for us by far. Ea Sensei is patient, kind, supportive, and extremely competent both in her skills and approach to instruction (as an educator, this was an important aspect to me . . . proficiency in practice and teaching don't always coincide). There is a strong sense of collegiality and family in the dojo, so much so that my wife

I have 30 years of experience in Aikido and recently moved to Tacoma. The Tacoma Aikikai is a new school so it doesn't have many members, this gives the students a great opportunity to get a lot of individual instruction from Ea sensei. I found her classes a nice mix of exercises and technique. Her style is both powerful and precise. If you are new to Aikido this is a great place to start and if you are experienced it's a great practice.
