Thomson's history is closely tied to the Georgia Railroad. The city was named after the famous John Edgar Thomson, chief engineer of the Georgia Railroad system. Also, Thomson was well-known for completing the 173 mile long railroad from Augusta to Marthasville (present day Atlanta, Georgia) in 1845.
Because the rich history of the railroad is alive in today's town, the Sweets showcased this by renaming the Hadaway's Building the Highrail Restaurant. Highrail is a casual dining restaurant serving delicious Classic American and Southern fare. Highrail features an executive chef along with a team of culinary professionals.

Services
Lisa and Ken both worked for The Boeing Company until the end 2011, when they retired and built a house on the lake in southern Lincoln County. The Sweets have lived in various parts of the United States during their successful careers with Boeing, where Ken was a Financial Executive and Lisa was an Information Technology Professional.
Do you take reservations? Because Highrail is a casual dining establishment, we don't currently take reservations. However, if you are expecting to come in with a large party please feel free to call in and give us a heads up. Now let's talk about what you really want to know about this restaurant. Is it worth the price or is it too expensive, right? Well clearly things have changed since my last visit including the ownership and menus.
Okay the best bargain now is the Wedge Salad. Presentation and flavors are over the top and from there this review goes down hill.
Chicken wings are now set at Market Price.??.. So one

Got the blackened catfish here. The fish was good but didn't have the punch I would expect from a blackened fish. For the sides, I got the loaded baked potato; that was good. I also got the jalepeno cheddar cornbread which was good as well. The bar had a decent selection of beers so that was really nice.

Took my wife there for dinner and the food was great service was wonderful the price was higher than I was expecting for the quality of food we received I'm not knock in the business everyone Has to make a Living but you can get a comparable steak dinner for less money same quality at Longhorn steakhouse in my opinion also the drinks are quite expensive

I contacted Krystal and Chef Mike to inquire about hosting my son's rather large rehearsal dinner on a busy Friday night. They were so accommodating and helpful. They coordinated seating, helped me plan a menu and had attentive staff there to serve us all night. Best of all, the food was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would absolutely recommend them. Great food, good service and nice people!

Went for dinner with friends at the suggestion of an acquaintance. We drove out from Evans and enjoyed a very good meal and drinks. We did make a reservation for Friday night, but from what I could tell it was not needed, the restaurant was not completely full.
The service was on point, the food divine. I had the blackened catfish with collared greens, and it did not disappoint. Our entire table was impressed with all of their choices and we devoured the appetizers. The atmosphere is perfect and if you are looking for a place to try, this has to be it. This is an A+!!

The restaurant is super cute inside. However the food was not as good as I'd hoped.
the sign at the door said the had spring cocktail. But the drinks on the menu were obviously winter themed because I had a "winter breeze" and the next one on the list was "holiday punch".
I ordered the Patty Melt and on the menu it said "thin patty cooked well" which is fine. But the burger came and it was almost an inch thick and very very dry. There were a few thin onions and needed more pimento cheese! There also was no sauce, Mayo, mustard or any condiments on the sandwich

Wow, this place is INCREDIBLE. The food was very good and the cocktails were out of this world. I went with five other friends and everyone's drinks were fantastic. The best part was Chef Mike!!! He was soooo nice and got a special sandwich done for me to accommodate my vegetarian diet. Thank you Mike!!! You're the man.

Excellent service and friendly staff. The chef brought us our meal and we were asked several times how things were. We got the chicken fried chicken with collards and mac n cheese and the catfish with a double side of grits. Heaven on a plate! Thr grits were light and creamy and the chicken was fried to perfection. The place was near empty at the tail end of lunch rush but I suspect business will be booming later tonight since it's Friday AND Valentine's Day. Will definitely stop by again when we're passing through.

Just finished eating here after driving to Thomson for work. I am so glad I picked this spot to try, because everything was out of this world. Fried green beans were amazing, and the patty melt was also delicious! I love the atmosphere and the staff as well - everyone was kind and attentive, and respectful of social distancing things. I really hope for more cases out this way, because I need an excuse to come back to Highrail!

Our first time to High Rail and we will be back!! We came early on a Monday night for our anniversary. I ordered the grilled catfish with baked potato and broccoli and my hubby ordered the boneless fried chicken breast with mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. EVERYTHING was delicious!
Yes, I even tasted all of his too! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish was perfectly seasoned as were all of the vegetables.

Well here I am in the middle of nowhere trying to contemplate what I want to eat. The last time I was in this town the only thing decent was a Mexican restaurant and I would give it a five out of 10 stars. This place is amazing and I cannot believe a gem of this quality sits in this little town. The restaurant and bar are beautiful. located in a nice downtown area. Both my coworker and I could not believe the quality of the food. I cannot say enough about this place other than delicious. Great food and great people make for an excellent experience.

I had the pork chop it was cooked well Ike I asked and I very much enjoyed it. The chef came out and said next time we come to order the Porkchop medium well. My husband had the ribeye and asked for to be medium well. My son had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was seasoned good and it was really clean. The customer service was on point very friendly. We will definitely be going back.

What arrived wasn't what I was expecting. It was basically about 6 big fish sticks. The fish was nice but little disappointed it was presented in this fish stick way. I think it would just be better as pieces of fish or a whole piece of fish.

Was on military duty in the CSRA for the past two and a half weeks and we ate here 4 different times. Our duty locations were far and out of the way but we always managed to make it to High Rail any chance we got! I even hosted a lunch with some high ranking Navy officers here.

We went for Brunch on a Sunday and were not disappointed. We got a table right away. They have $2 mimosas for brunch which I felt was a total deal! I got the chicken and waffles with the cheesy grits. I absolutely loved everything about my meal. I even had plenty left over to take home!!! The fried chicken was very well executed! My hubs got the pork chop and eggs with collards and mac n cheese! Everything tasted delicious! We didn't feel it was over priced at all and the food was very good! I am super glad Thomson finally got a spot like this!!!

This place looked very promising. I was here on business and looked forward to some good country food. I ordered country fried steak and it came out burned. The owner was willing to replace it but I was unwilling to have them remake me anything. One of the waiters went outside to smoke and came back in to give me my drink and it tasted like cigarette smoke. The cornbread was really good so that's why I gave them two stars instead of one.

Wow, this place is legit. Had the Mahi-Mahi special and probably the best Mahi I had in a long long time. Perfectly cooked fish topped with a fruit based chutney. Came with really good vinegar based coleslaw and sweet/spicy green beans.
The atmosphere is very inviting with a fresh looking vibe/feeling throughout including a nice bar area. The service was ok but the food was the star of the show at this establishment. Would absolutely come again next time I am in town.
