We are conveniently located one mile north of Southern State parkway at exit 17N. Founded in 1962 by Alfred L. Sorrentino and Richard W. Barnes we remain in the same location for over fifty years. Unlike many funeral homes we are family owned and operated not answering to a larger corporation. Our reputation speaks for itself with the same licensed staff for over thirty years combining more than sixty years of funeral service expertise.
We understand that planning a funeral can be very difficult for you. At Barnes-Sorrentino, we will be able to assist you in this trying time. We can help you with all aspects of arrangements or pre-arrangements, including Medicaid situations. We do recommend you bring a family member or a friend with you when you are making the arrangements.
We offer memorial services to those who wish to pay tribute to the life of the deceased. It can take place with the deceased's remains present or not. This type of service can give family and friends a public place to gather and honor the life that has passed without a traditional funeral visitation.
Barnes-Sorrentino can help you with a "green burial" as a means of facilitating the restoration, acquisition, and stewardship of natural areas. In this method, formaldehyde-based embalming is not allowed, as is the use of metal or concrete grave-liners, burials-vaults, or other permanent burial containers.
Exit 17N onto Hempstead Avenue, we are one mile north across from the West Hempstead Public Library. L.I. Me and my sisters contacted Barnes Sorrentino Funeral Home to make arrangements for my father who was on hospice and expected to pass within a few days. We met with John who was not only accommodating, but genuinely warm, sincere and sympathetic to my sisters and myself. My father passed 2 days later in the middle of the night, we called Barnes Sorrentino and we were so happy that they picked up my father so quickly. During the Wake, Funeral Services and at the Cemetery, Fred Sorrentino treated me, my sisters and our guests with sincere empathy and compassion. I can not thank Barnes Sorrentino

We used Barnes-Sorrebtino for a family members funeral. We found them through the NY/LI Funeral Consumer Alliance. We were completely satisfied with the service. Everything we asked, and all on short notice, was accommodated. We felt grateful to work with these professionals during what was a difficult time. We would definitely recommend them.
