Do you feel stuck in your life or in your relationship(s)? Or are you in a transition that's bogging you down? You don't have to go it alone. Together, we can clarify what isn't working for you and identify areas for change; tap into your strengths and talents; and help you move toward greater joy and deeper connections. The core focus of my practice is all forms of relationships: spouses/partners, parents and children, extended families, co-workers, friends.

I have a bachelor's degree from Connecticut College, a master's degree in Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University (2001), and further training in family systems. In addition to being a licensed marriage and family therapist, I have a two-year certification in Gestalt Therapy, an experiential approach that integrates mind and body.
My approach to therapy is a team effort. We work together to identify your goals, strengths, sore spots, joys, obstacles, and opportunities. Then we figure out ways you can build on strengths, move toward your goals, and add joy. Some people worry that a therapist may "judge" or "analyze" them. My approach is to analyze the process-what's working for you, where you may be getting stuck, what seems to energize you.
It's unavoidable: Sometimes you won't want to do what your significant other proposes. Even if you agree on a lot of things, you're separate people. You won't always want to do the same things, eat the same things, or run the household in a certain way. If you often agree to things you really don't want to do, you'll end up feeling resentful.
We have this idea that family holidays should look like a Norman Rockwell painting: everyone scrubbed and smiling. You may even think that most families are really like that. Some families are closer to that fantasy idea than others, but I assure you that every family's got at least some rough patches, and many families have a lot of them.
Mindfulness is a wonderfully simple way to reduce the stress of daily life, lessen the impact of pain (physical and emotional), and feel more centered. It can take as little as 30 seconds (although longer blocks of time are even more helpful). It is a variation of meditation that's easy to apply any day, and you don't need any special training.
