Services
The Village Veterinary Center, a small family business, was launched in Wickford, Rhode Island in the spring of 2014 by Dr. David Bergmann and his wife, Gioia Bergmann. As a modern, full service animal hospital, The Village Veterinary Center uses leading edge equipment and time trusted techniques to maintain the health and well-being of their patients.
The Village Veterinary Center sees non-emergency patients exclusively by appointment. We make every effort to see patients at their scheduled appointment time. However, emergency cases receive top priority. Any pet in need of critical care that arrives during your visit may result in delays. We would greatly appreciate your understanding when emergency situations arise which require our immediate attention.
The Village Veterinary Center is a state-of-the-art animal hospital, featuring modern diagnostic tools, including digital x-ray and an in-house laboratory capable of providing immediate test results. The animal hospital also offers a comfortable waiting area for pets and their people, clean and spacious exam rooms, and a variety of accessible outdoor spaces in the greenhouse and courtyard, providing a calming environment for anxious patients.
Dr. Bergmann's journey as a veterinarian began as a lifelong animal lover and pet owner. After college, he made his first career in social services, where he produced and implemented behavior and employment plans for developmentally disabled adults.
With a growing inclination toward continuing his education, an uncanny talent for detailed and accurate observation, and a strong interest in veterinary medicine, he made the transition to a career as a veterinarian, attending veterinary school in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2003 and has always enjoyed meeting and working with patients and their families.
As a senior veterinary surgical technician and an experienced veterinary business manager, Gioia is a great source of information on all aspects of pet health and well-being, including creating a safe and relaxing home environment, providing pets with the exercise and entertainment they need, pet nutrition, and insight on correcting behavioral issues. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and being on the water.

The vets are good. However, with anything serious, they tend to refer out to Ocean State. They also have a huge focus on dental for animals...which is important, but felt like a pushy side gig. The place is immaculate and they do a nice job of using technology. All records and reminders are digital. This was helpful. They are also also priced competitively with other local vets. Great for routine and local, but may not be suitable for more serious needs (based on experience, which may not be fair to generalize). Worth a try..but be sure to have some alternates in mind.

Positive: Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness
The Village Veterinary Center is wonderful because the people who work there are wonderful. They do an incredibly good job--always very professional, reliable, friendly, and excellent when it comes to communication. I have had nothing but positive experiences taking my two dog there. Highly recommended!

The Staff “ Sarah” who answers the phone is obnoxious! Rude, Ignorant, My dog had an emergency on Wednesday and I drove him to the village vet. Door was locked and two girls came outside to block me from bringing my dog inside. He was having asthmatic breathing problems, shaking and in a panic mode, gasping for air. They brushed me off and told me… to try to find another clinic they weren’t equipped to help my dog. Not Staffed was the response!! I left in a hurry and drove to NK Emergency Vet Clinic. They took my dog immediately upon my arrival and took his vitals and monitored

As always, I'm thankful for the great care that my senior dog, Abigail received at VVC. And during this strange time when pretty much everything, including vet care has to be done a little differently, I really appreciated staff explaining exactly what to expect when we arrived for the appointment so I was totally prepared. Thank you VVC.🐾💖

Dr. Dave is excellent. He made our initial visit such a positive experience that Brooke gets excited when we tell her we our going to visit the Vet. We have been back several times for all her vaccinations. He is very personable, answers all our questions, goes out of his way to provide us with information for our questions and definitely loves pets!

Dr. Dave and his staff are really the best. The facility is spotless and the technicians take the time to update records and add new information. Dr. Dave is the pet whisperer. He can calm down a skittish animal and give the pet the time for a thorough exam. He answers questions fully but in a way a non-professional can understand. And if he says he's going to call you later or the next day, he does. So happy we have this veterinary practice nearby!
