You may opt-out anytime by replying STOP. I knew nothing about martial arts when our sons started training at Karate West almost 5 years ago (they were ages 4y and 8y).

In fact I thought it might make them fight. But now I'm so glad we gave it a try! They have learned leadership skills and how to stand up to bullies (without fighting). They've learned about healthy life style and goal setting. My shy little boy found his confidence and my busy little boy found his focus.

Great place to learn Karate also to learn focus and discipline. Great for the kids. My aunt is a black belt and my son just started attending, he is six. His focus has improved already and his attitude and demeanor have also improved. I would recommend this place , definitely.

We love Karate West! My son has trained since grade school and is now a black belt. The teachers are excellent; supportive, encouraging and they expect students to bring their best selves (which they do!). But it isn't just the training that has impressed us. At Karate West, they emphasize respect and inclusiveness. On a whim, I signed up for a month of classes last summer (middle aged mom...) and am on my way to Black Belt, much to my surprise! It is an amazing place for everyone---not just kids. And whatever your goals (fitness, self defense, learning something new), you will have

My daughter has trained with Sensei Andrew for over four years and he is the driving force as to why we continue to send her to the dojo in Mercer Island, despite numerous other dojos closer to our home in Bellevue.

Sensei Andrew has taught her, by his own example, the importance of kindness, perseverance of personal growth, discipline, and patience through his weekly karate training and mat chats.

Sensei Andrew has both the experience and natural talent to sense what students need and can alter his lessons to match their needs in an age-appropriate manner. I have not known many teachers to

There are two giant buildings. One of them is the main building, where you can talk to the front desk. The front desk people are really nice and friendly. You have to go through 4+ years of training until you get your black belt. The amount of years depend on your ability to pass the test, and whether or not you are over or under the age of 13.

We've had our 3 kids at this dojo for many years, I can't say enough good things for what this organization and the huge Shudohan Karate family have meant to us.

The instructors and management are truly wonderful people!

Our kids have learned self defense, respect, discipline, focus and listening skills, teamwork with positive social interactions, anti-bullying techniques, social skills, self control, decision making processes, balance, posture, stretching, endurance, countless entertaining exercises, memorization and retention (also muscle memory), self discipline, responsibility

Our son's 3rd grade teacher recommended Karate West because our son is super shy (unlike our oldest child!!) and we wanted to put him in something that would help build him up and bring him out of his shell. But when we got to our first lesson, our son wouldn't get out of the car!!! One of the teachers saw our struggles and she actually came out to the car and talked to him, encouraging him to just come inside and watch. It did the trick!! He only watched for a few minutes before jumping into class. He loved it and talked about it all night. It was a great day and he can't wait to go again next
