SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy
At SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy, the treatment approach for dancers and other athletic individuals is different. We speak ballet, hip hop, jazz, and ballroom dance (among others). You will be treated by a former professional dancer, who understands your body as a dancer and your specific challenges.

Using biomechanical and scientifically informed treatment with our manual therapy, exercise and alignment correction, you will improve in ways you never thought possible. You will work hard, and you will get better. Dancers of all ages and levels are welcome here, and so are their friends and families!
Services
SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy was started to provide a unique space for dancers to recover from injury. Functional rehab requires you to have the space you need to roll around on the floor or do foutte turns. But that is not all.

Physical therapy with a dance medicine specialist produces the strength and technique corrections you need to reach your goals, and the hands-on treatment (myofacial release, joint mobilization, taping, etc) you need to feel better in the process. We also use pilates equipment (reformer, wall board, ladder barrel and EXO chair), balance equipment and weight training to help you go where you need to be.
You deserve the type of top shelf care professional dancers enjoy every day at SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy! Unfortunately, many of us think we do not qualify or deserve the same care professional athletes receive. That is just not true. You are qualified regardless of age, disability level, ability level, sport, method of exercise or even level of inactivity!
If you have a Health Savings Account, you can use it as coverage for your Physical Therapy. To view the benefits provided by your insurance coverage, you may need to register and login online first. We've provided courtesy links to some common insurance companies to help you with this step. Some dance companies (such as SFB, ODC, and Lines) are contracted with SF Performing Arts PT.
These can be great additions to your toolbox, and we hope you have as much fun doing the exercises as it was to shoot them. Join Josephine Lee from ThePointeShop at SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy for your personal and professional pointe shoe fitting! This FREE workshop will teach you about your spine and some of the most common causes of lower back pain and sciatica.

I am a performer working in musical theater and sustained an injury doing a Broadway show in New York City a couple of years ago. Living in both San Francisco and NYC, I opted to finally have surgery at UCSF in September of 2020 for my left shoulder to address a torn rotator cuff, labrum, ac joint repair and a biceps tenodesis. After surgery I started seeing Kendall at SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy. I liked that she had a direct understanding of the athleticism, flexibility, range of motion and functionality that I would need to regain in order to return to my career. I believe her own involvement
