Seeking physical therapy for sensitive or complex complaints of the body can be challenging and, as such, we offer 10-15 minute, complimentary consultations to help you navigate next steps. If you aren't able to find a time that works for you, put yourself on the waiting list for the days and times that you might be available to take a call (including today).
Direct access means that you can make an appointment, be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without being referred by a doctor or other healthcare practitioner for a period of up to 45 calendar days or 12 visits. Often called self-referral, direct access allows you to "refer yourself" to physical therapy for treatment if you feel you have a problem that may benefit from the skilled services of a physical therapist.
Arlene has extensive experience with a range of client populations and brings a holistic, multi-modal approach in her care of patients with pelvic and orthopedic complaints. She recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing and creatively draws on an integrated set of manual therapy and patient education tools to help one attain full body recovery.

Arlene Cavan was my physical therapist. Very wonderful person. Nice healing touch. Answered my many questions regarding my total knee replacement. Very knowledgeable. It's 3 months out and I'm without a cane and back to normal activities like square dancing. I'm having the other knee done in February and will use her again.

Arlene is one of the most knowledgeable, compassionate, supportive, and effective health professionals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! I first came to Arlene for foot PT following the last of 4 surgeries. With post-surgical complications and having had a stressful history with physical therapy, I was apprehensive and highly anxious. Arlene was both kind and patient as she guided me into feeling comfortable working with my foot, and that trust has been invaluable in my recovery. Over a few months she helped me with range of motion and quality of movement, desensitizing traumatized areas

It is a pleasure to be able to report online, that Arlene Cavan is the ideal physical therapist. She came to my house for four sessions and after each session, I felt worked on but incredibly better -- both physically and emotionally. And now, five weeks after my anterior right hip replacement, I am almost entirely healed. I can't say enough good things about her method and personality.

I was in need of PT for several months. I have worked with other PTs in the past, but I can say that Arlene is amazing. She listens carefully to her patients and understands what they are going through. She demonstrates an ability to target the "issue areas" and a path to clear progress. She follows up to ensure patients have as much information and solutions at their disposal. Many PTs will just repeat the same techniques over and over, but Arlene is able to develop a plan that leads to real recovery. I would highly recommend her for your PT needs. She cares about what she is

I'm a male pudendal nerve entrapment patient, previously under the care of Dr. Weiss for 14 years until his retirement. Arlene and Cristi worked alongside Dr. Weiss and were an integral part of The Pacific Center for Pelvic Pain and Dysfunction for nearly a decade. Since his retirement, I've been treated by several care providers (all very good!), until finding Calyx and can only say they are the best! Integrating multiple whole-body and mind modalities, they are highly skilled in pelvic pain treatment and, importantly, they are compassionately attuned, caring and responsive to the patient

I would give Cristina Shupe 100 stars if I could, no joke. She is absolutely the best physical therapist I have ever seen. As a person that has suffered with chronic pain for a long time, I have seen many physical therapists. None compare to Cristi hands down. She is so passionate and enthusiastic about healing the patient, and it is infectious. After I see her not only do I feel better physically but emotionally as well because I know she is healing me! She is trained in a new technique called counterstrain which I attribute tremendously to my massive improvement. This is going to sound

Arlene Cavan is Best in Class! I dislocated my elbow and had been receiving regular physical therapy through my HMO therapists for weeks. It was quite a grind, and the focus was only on elbow exercises, which I dreaded doing each day due to the pain and tedium. Progress was slow, and after almost 3 months, I still had not restored full range of motion.

I needed to make some change to my therapy, so I was eager to see Arlene. Arlene provided me with treatment that drastically changed the trajectory of my recovery. Unlike my previous therapists, she did not only focus on my elbow. Instead
