If I could post less than one star I would. I initially contacted Urban and Burt because their office was local, not in downtown Chicago. Their reviews were good, however I discovered later why all their reviews were favorable...more on that later. They handled a child support/custody case for my daughter. My daughter needed legal representation and guidance...the court system granted unsupervised visitation to the father of her children and my granddaughter was molested during at least three visits. I explained to Cheryl, who handled the case, that our finances were limited; my daughter did not

Our real estate attorney, Dale Hauser from Urban & Burt was very professional and on-the-ball with every bit of our real estate sale. We always heard from him before our realtor regarding any updates. If it weren't for him, I'm afraid things would have gone very badly. At closing, Dale Hauser came through for us as the Z-Team realtor team didn't even bother to show up or even call to give instructions/directions on their part of the closing process. Our attorney had to call them and their response was to just put the check in the mail.

My daughters ex was not complying with what he agreed to in their divorce. I supplied her with the money to take him back to court. The time spent with meeting with the attorney, preparing the documents for court, the frustration, the traveling to and from downtown, the thousands of dollars in fees have all been a terrible waste of time and money. It was agreed that he would start making monthly payments until the debt was paid. To this date she has not received a single payment. She contacted them months ago and I sent an unanswered email a month ago. Nothing but a waste of time and money. Her

My husband and I used Urban & Burt for our estate planning. The service was top notch! They helped us with all the forms we already knew we needed such as a will as well as suggested other documents we had not thought of such as medical and property power of attorney. While these documents are never pleasant things to think about, they made the whole process easy and we feel much more secure knowing that all of our paperwork is in place should something unimaginable happen.

My parents used attorney Dale Hauser for the closing on their new home in New Lenox. We needed powers of attorney on an emergency basis, and he came through on the weekend for us. They decided to hire him again when they sold the old house. He was thorough and communicated back quickly with us and with the realtor. We would use this firm again.

Although my divorce was finalized many, many years ago, I have to chime in with Jennifer C. & Emmanuel B.: AVOID THIS FIRM at all costs. The attorney I used, Cheryl Zeleznak, was nice enough but absolutely took me to the cleaners. Her estimated cost? Yeah, it was SO very off. I wound up spending way more than the "approximate cost", and while I was moderately satisfied with the settlement as decreed by the divorce, I felt like she was a little too...apathetic, perhaps? Additionally, my "clear cut" divorce (I didn't want the house, we had no children together, etc.)

I would give this firm NO or negative stars if I could. I think that the closing statement of the last reviewer was pretty spot on. "If you want a lawyer who will work for their own benefit, here is a firm for you. If you want a lawyer who will work for you, look elsewhere."
In short my experience was with Atty Patrick Shifley who mislead both myself and my now ex-husband. Urban and Burt took thousands of dollars from us, which we paid them to help protect us and our property in a bankruptcy case, except they never did what they were supposed to or what they said they were going to
