My family has been going to the wavecrest for the past 8 years. It's a family friendly environment and beach access is what has kept us going back.
I booked a special birthday outing for my husband and children at the wavecrest October 22 to 24. Unfortunately due to lack of management oversight at night, the trip was a disaster. On October 23 a group of unruly and rude guests made it impossible for my family to sleep. It's unacceptable and takes away from the overall experience. We are willing to put up with dated rooms because of the property but not with the messy people .

Staying at the Wavecrest was very relaxing. The room was great and Kathy was very accommodating. We had friends who were staying at the Surf Club who stopped by and said our room was much nicer then theirs . I totally agree. Surf club was twice the price . Highly recommended Wavecrest for your next vacation .

I stayed here a few times. It's more of a family resort. It's a co-op motel. Every room is different. It is by far not as luxuries as say gurneys. It's price is 1/3 of what other oceanfront motel are charging. If don't know of any other better hotel for the price that's on the ocean in Montauk. The food truck is amazing.

Terrible, I've been coming to this place for a long time, but this year was the worst the front desk ladies are rude. Cleaning staff looks overworked and not appreciated. My room was not even ready for a 3 o clock check in what a joke, but they had no problem taking my money at 2:55 p.m. giving me my keys oh, and not even telling me my room was not ready. That was very unprofessional of them. My room wasn't even that clean. I will never stay at this place again it's sad to say I've been coming here for 14 years Oh, and next year I will be staying at Gurney's.

Loud music allowed on the beach all night by management. The group left garbage all over the beach, management did nothing to control this group. Other patrons were unable to sleep at night due to the music. Told by management to go elsewhere if we were unhappy with the situation.

The room was super clean and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. Pam, the receptionist, was a sweetheart and kept me supplied with fresh coffee💖. When we had trouble with our tv we called her and within 5 minutes she had Kevin, another staff member, (also very nice) up to help us. We look forward to going back.

We stayed here for a birthday weekend getaway. The view was so beautiful and there really was nothing better than waking up to the sunrise and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach.
However, the room we got did not match the photo that was on the listing at the time of booking. It really wasn't a big deal, but the room in the photo was much nicer & seemed more updated than what we had. To me, it seemed pretty run down and was not cleaned well prior to us checking in. There were hairs in the shower and the table in the dining area was pretty sticky and had crumbs on it. But, it was cheap

Average hotel. Rooms looked to be just renovated on the interior. Negative though is these rooms are far from insulated and you feel every wind gust and breeze coming in from the windows and door as its on the water. Fires are allowed on the beach but reserve the fire ring early as they sell out quickly. The indoor pool was okay only issue it closes at 6pm so its not a night time hangout place instead of doing a fire. I chose this place for the indoor pool but was very disappointed with the hours as they never told me this as I booked for the weekend.

Would not stay here again. The photos online must be from 30 years ago when it was fresh and new because in real life it's a dump. The rooms are SO small and you're paying like $600+ a night. The entirety of the bathroom was about 6 ft long and 3 ft wide. The front desk staff were incredibly rude AND they don't tell you that if you want to bring a second car for your party its an extra $100. So we paid the extra $100 and there was absolutely no where to park anyway they way oversold the lot multiple people made their own spots. They sell 'cabanas' on the beach for $100

The view is phenomenal but that is it. My bathroom was terrible, I stayed in room 114 or 116 I forget but, the shower head is pathetic and there was someone elses hair in the shower upon arrival. The living room kitchen area is very nice and clean. The bedroom was terrible. I didnt sleep a wink, the bed is incredibly uncomfortable, hard and bumpy, and makes a loud squeaking noise every toss and turn you make, which kept me awake all . night. oh also the light in the room mysteriously would just turn on on its own so Im never coming back.

Almost didn't stay here due to the middling ratings of this place but glad we did as it turned out to be much nicer than the ratings indicated. Consisting of 4 buildings - Beach Dune and Waters Edge ocean facing and closest to the beach, Panorama and Overlook set back a bit at an angle but on higher ground. We had a 2nd floor sea view studio with two queen beds in Panorama facing SW down the beach, overlooking the greenery of the state park next door (paid more for the view - $410 before tax - pricey but this is Montauk in July - even though in mid week the beach here is comfortably uncrowded

Ocean front rooms are a must. Each room has a different layout and different decor. I recommend a room without carpet. If you can get the dine-around package it's worth it. The food truck is well worth it and it's employees are super friendly.

Just spent 3 wonderful nights here in one of the Beach Dune rooms overlooking the ocean. The rooms are clean and well laid out. When the microwave went out they immediately replaced it with a new one. The linens keep me from giving it five stars.

One of the best amenities is the food truck. Steve and Colleen provide delicious breakfast and lunches. We loved the coffee, smoothies, french toast with fruit, and above all the lobster rolls. They really understand how to bring out the taste of the lobster (with butter), and not hide it (with mayo).

One of the other things I liked about this

Nice laid back place with beach and ocean views from every room. The place needs some updating. The room I stayed in had a broken window latch. If not for being in a nice town, I would worry someone could have easy gotten into our room. The fan in the living room was partially broken. You could not turn off the light due to the chain missing / broken off the fan. Poison Oak is all over the property...next to stairs, walkways, dune areas, etc. The addition of the Wave Crave food truck was GREAT. Very good eats! The front desk and staff were very friendly.

In terms of location you can't beat this hotel. Steps from the beach and they even go and set up chairs and umbrellas for you if you ask.

In terms of comfort and cleanliness, I probably wouldn't stay here again. The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were paper thin.

As far as cleanliness the room was pretty filthy. Dirty spots on the wall next to the bed, the tv, a huge smudge on the wall in the bathroom and the floor of the shower was bordering on black. The doorframe around the bathroom probably hasn't been cleaned since the hotel opened. I have a 2 year old son

The view from our room is a great reason to stay here. The resort is only 10 minutes from town. Otherwise, it is a basic room. We went at the end of April which is a plus if you want more of a quiet weekend. The indoor heated pool came in handy but the staff kept the doors open and it was freezing making the heat obsolete. Also, the staff appeared to be taking breaks in the pool area and sitting there watching us and the rest of the pool goers to where people just started leaving. We did as well as the staff wanted to close the pool more than an hour early.

Rooms looked like a modern, fancy but beach loft. 2 rooms. Had tv's. Private parking and cool
View of pond. Right by the water.

Everything was great except 2 things. No heat (and it was cold) and dirty floors (sand and dead bugs etc).
I wish someone cleaned floors.

It was freezing since I went off season.

Anyway, the place was great other than that.
Customer service was very nice.

Great place. Better than I expected. Totally beachy, independently owned condos operated by a private hotel management company. Nothing fancy, but perfect for a beach getaway. Ours was an ocean front suite with a queen bed, and separate LR/Kitchen. The bedroom was a little bright in the morning so we put additional towels over the Windows. The front desk lady was nice and told us about a great local place for food (The Dock) when we got there late the first night. The beach itself is just on the eastern edge of hither hills so it's pretty much isolated and perfect. It's about a 5 minute

We stayed at this resort this weekend and the room was filled with black mold - the stench was so strong I instantly got a headache. Because the office had booked the resort full, there was nothing they could do to help - they didn't apologize; they didn't seem surprised; they didn't check the room; they didn't offer a resolution! They even refused to refund the room fee! Not every room is like this, but the fact that they would even think to offer a room that is clearly unhealthy and unsafe is disgusting! They should be ashamed of themselves!

I came to Montauk with a 16 person Bachelorette Party. The rooms were definitely overpriced and we had to pay extra to have more than two people per room. But each room was different and some of them were pretty ugly.

The bachelorette and I grabbed the one with the biggest fridge but the room itself was meh. In fact, the beds frames were the worst. They were hidden under the comforter and came out farther than anyone expected. Every girl who came in got a massive bruise on her leg. Watch out for room 142 in the Panorama building. The beds will hurt.

The beach was fantastic. They brought the

The room was fine, nothing to write home about but it had a lovely view of the beach. That's what the one star is for. And that's all they deserve. The staff however were awful, I really don't understand why people have to be so rude and unhelpful. There was no cellphone reception in the room so we called front desk and asked them if they could call us one. They wouldn't, and told us to call one from the room - wouldn't give us a number. Then when we checked out she informed us we owed $4 for using the phone! Seriously how difficult is it to call a cab for someone, and
