In 1883, King W. Spencer, a Union Village merchant, added funeral service to his list of interests, which included furniture, hardware and photography. The original building (now known as Endicott Tractor) still stands in the Union District of Endicott, New York. James W. Coleman joined King Spencer in the funeral business and the name was changed to Spencer & Coleman Funeral Home.
Mark J. Murphy has been a resident of Endicott for 56 years. He is a graduate of Union-Endicott High School, and Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. He has been employed at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, LLC. for 38 years and is currently a co-owner. Mark is a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association, and the Broome County Funeral Directors Association where he is a past president.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
We do not want your choices to be more than is affordable nor less than you would like to arrange. It is important that the arrangements you choose are in keeping with your wishes and budget. These are some of the cremation options available to you at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home. This sample service is a traditional funeral service with the remains present for viewing.
Traditionally, a burial service involves a visitation, followed by a funeral service in a church, or other place of worship. The casket is typically present at both these events, and it is your decision on whether to have the casket open or not. You have the option of having the remains interred (earth burial), or it may be entombed in a crypt inside a mausoleum (above ground burial).
