Robert J. Bednarsky, the founder of Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., became a licensed Funeral Director in 1937. In those days, visitations were held at the home of the person who died. Friends and family came to pay their respects and offer condolences, often over several days.

The Funeral Director would take the decedent's body from wherever he/she died, perform the embalming, place the decedent's body into the casket chosen by the family, and return the person to their home.Following the visitation, the casket would be taken by hearse to a nearby church for the funeral service, followed by burial.
Services
When we discuss the costs for funerals and memorials, we divide those charges into "The Service Charge", meaning the itemized charges from our General Price List for what we do, such as embalming, transferring the decedent's body, etc., and "Merchandise", meaning the cost of the casket, outer interment receptacle (vault) or the urn.
Many people choose to arrange the services they wish to have ahead of time. New York State laws require that any money given to the funeral home before our services are provided be placed 100% in trust. Your money and peace of mind is perfectly safe with us. All prepaid funeral accounts are FDIC-insured and fully transferrable, should your circumstances change.
When we discuss the expenses associated with a funeral or a memorialization, we essentially must address two components. The first component is the services provided by the funeral home staff. The second is merchandise selected. Please note that an itemized general price list is available upon request and will be provided in writing or discussed over the telephone during regular business hours.
Cremation has become a popular option for many people because it can be more flexible as to where and when you hold a service. You can have a traditional funeral service before a cremation or a memorial service at any time with or without the urn present. You can keep the urn, scatter the ashes or have the urn buried in a grave or columbarium where we can hold a service.
At Bednarsky Funeral Home, we want to make arrangements simple for you. We offer a huge variety of containers and traditional caskets designed to meet your unique and personal needs but we'll be happy to go over your options and answer any questions that you may have. If you are looking for something in particular, please let us know.

Ann and her family has done a wonderful job in taking care of our family for a few generations. So compassionate, and helpful during our difficult time.
