Imprinted Counseling
My favorite definition of the word "Imprint" comes from the Cambridge Dictionary. It defines it as "to fix an event or experience so firmly in the memory that it cannot be forgotten." Part of my mission is to share in your moments of joy, but even more to dig in and share the hardest moments of your life.

These moments could be the death of a loved one, loss of a beloved pet, daily anxiety, worries about your teenager or child, symptoms of PTSD after experiencing a traumatic event, or overwhelming suicidal thoughts or depression to name some examples. Most of all, in the time we spend together I hope to leave an imprint no matter how big or small.

People often ask me how and when I knew I wanted to become a therapist. Looking back, I can see evidence from around 5-7 years old. My fascination and curiosity of people's stories was obvious. You see, while most other little kids dreamed of being a doctor, dancer, or sports player when they grow up my dream job was either to be a 911 operator or police detective.
Perhaps, you find yourself wanting to distract, ignore, or avoid certain feelings? Or you may do the same with certain triggers or reminders of the person or things you lost? Most likely, you want to share your pain and grief with others, but may resist. This resistance could stem from so many things including deep feelings of guilt, shame, embarrassment or possible fear of judgment from others.
Do you struggle with sleep (having a hard time falling asleep, staying asleep, or having nightmares)?. Every day can feel like you can't breathe when you have PTSD symptoms. It can be like playing a game of dodgeball. You may be dodging, ducking, or running in the opposite direction trying to avoid feelings, thoughts, behaviors, social situations, or other people.
I've been thinking about the month of September since May. And while I have more to say and continue from my last post something else is on my mind tonight. There's a lot attached to this day. There are people out. Sometimes the issue at the heart of anxiety is the feeling of wanting to be in control.
I've been thinking about the month of September since May. And while I have more to say and continue from my last post something else is on my mind tonight. There's a lot attached to this day. There are people out. First, it's important for me to mention we'll start by building the foundation of a successful therapy relationship and it will continue to grow throughout the process.
