The practice of acupuncture dates back to ancient China, with the first mentions of it coming a few hundred years prior to the Common Era. While we use precision needles in today's acupuncture treatments, some of the earliest references indicate that sharpened stones and bones were used by practitioners thousands of years ago to perform acupuncture procedures.
Acupuncture is an extremely effective way to manage pain. What kind of pain conditions, you ask? Well, the list is long: back pain, joint pain, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal conditions, sports injury. Acupuncture is considered safe, effective, and even ideal for treating people who suffer with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Acupuncture is a gentle, low-risk option for women who want to achieve full-body health and balance prior to conception or during pregnancy. If you are trying to conceive, acupuncture can relieve stress and relax you, as well as improve your fertility. For women who are already pregnant, acupuncture may reduce your risk for miscarriage.
Acupuncture and herbal medicine have long been used to increase fertility for both women and men. Studies have suggested that the combination of both Western medicine and acupuncture can be an effective approach to preserving and stimulating fertility. If you are near State College, PA and want to pursue acupuncture and herbal medicine for any of the fertility concerns below, reach out to Matt Beigle for an acupuncture consultation.
