I was warned not to eat here 3 years ago by a coworker since he got food poisoning. Then the name changed and I thought it was a different company. I have eaten here quite a few times without issue until Monday. I had the Thai Red Curry Chicken special for the 4th time and by 3pm I was feeling it. I couldn't touch, smell, or see food until 1pm the next day. They have some food handling issues to work out! BTW the receipts still say Chez Dave even though the company is now FreshTable.

This place has grown on me a bit since the makeover. I don't know for sure if the good has changed all that much, but I found a new go to at lunch: the chicken Caesar wrap. It's decently cheap, just the right amount of filling and relatively healthy given the options in the area. It's still not a world beater of a restaurant, and I wouldn't especially go out of my way to come here, but it's worth a revisit since the name change and the chicken Caesar wrap is worth a try. (Also this may just be the Mexican establishment they share spade with next door, but there is free

I always rely on the Monday Meatloaf Special to get me through a rough Monday, and I'm sorry to say that today it was stone cold. I called and let them know, and the gal who answered was receptive. Hopefully, they'll get it taken care of. The staff is always very friendly and quick, which is convenient for the mini-city that resides in One and Two Union Square.

I work downtown and quick and tasty lunch food is often hard to come by. But...Chez Dave is definitely the worst meal I've had downtown. I probably made the mistake of ordering their Beef Gyro, at a sandwich place with a French name. Nevertheless, it was gross! $7+tax wasted! I couldn't even finish the sandwich. I should have known it was bad when the employee couldn't even pronounce gyro correctly. I'd AVOID.

I just ordered a Mexican Steak, which sounded yummy (steak, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro on a gyro tortilla) and the first 2/3 of it were really good. Somewhere near the last couple bites, I got a bite that was extremely bitter and left a sour taste in my mouth, even half an hour later. I LOVE cilantro, so I'm sure it's not a "don't order cilantro if you normally don't like it" kind of thing - something must have been spoiled or tainted with something else.
That said, I've ordered a couple other things from Chez Dave's, and they've been ok. Multiple

They are rude to African Americans. This has been something that regulars have noticed. Theres a huge difference in how they treat African Americans compared to others. They are also not consistent with what they charge you when you do not choose to receive all of the items that come with a meal choice.

Au contraire, my visit was rather decent. I'd done strolls now-and-then to this end of the pedestrian tunnel, then finally popped in... with just a bit of perusing and scoping out in mind, I told the gentleman behind counter that meatloaf sandwich sounds good, then right away he motioned to the specials sign at my right. "If you'd like, you can make it a combo special." I think it was cheaper/better value, so I was like cool, he was being friendly to a customer['s wallet]... I took it to go and munched at my desk... this is some pretty tasty meatloaf.

Chez Dave should eat his own food so he would know how putrid some of it is. Today I had a Turkey Laguna Beach Club sandwhich on sourdough and a side of potato salad. Just a few bites of the potato salad (which they serve in absurdly large portions for a side dish) and I couldn't eat any more of it. It was so disgusting I almost puked - that is no exaggeration. The potatoes were grainy and mushy. There was an unidentifiable flavor in there that left a bitter taste on the back of my tongue. It was the nastiest potato salad I've ever eaten in my life! The sandwhich wasn't much

In Union Square downstairs by Fresh Basil and Blue Water Taco Grill with a small food court under the staircase. Sandwiches are made fresh in front of you pretty quickly. This seems increasing rare lately, which is a little bit of a shock. The vegetarian sandwich was good and fresh, with sprouts even. Your choice of bread/cheese/mustard, comes with avocado spread. Easy to get without cheese or mayo if you're going vegan/dairy-free.
