First Presbyterian Nursery School offers a play-based program that follows the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards. The required areas of cognition, social/emotional growth, and physical development are woven into fun experimentation, exploration, and small group activities where children thrive.

Our language and literacy, creative arts, mathematics, science, and social studies curriculum ensures our students are well prepared for kindergarten. Pre-K and Four's classes even use the Wilson Fundations Pre-K Handwriting program, consistent with the New Canaan Public Schools. We maintain a student teacher ratio of 6:1 or lower to address the individual needs of our children.
Services
First Presbyterian Nursery School is open to three-, four- and five-year olds regardless of church affiliation. Siblings are automatically offered a space in age-appropriate classes. Members of the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan are given preference in admissions placement. When a child is accepted at FPNS, a $500 registration fee is required with the returned contract to hold the space.
Our teachers at FPNS are a caring and dedicated group of talented, loving, and patient adults with backgrounds in education. We are committed to children, families, and our community. Our commitment means that we spend hours in professional learning classes to keep current with the latest research in our field, and we seek out the best experts we can find to help us continue to learn.
