After finishing the University of Akron in 1993 and graduating Summa Cum Laude, I worked with juvenile delinquents for a few years. At a health and fitness expo with my "little sister" (Big Brother and Big Sister program), we discovered the massage school. I thought: "you can get paid for that?". So I was able to make my hobby my career and started at the Ohio College of Massotherapy in 1995.
I became licensed in June of 1997. I worked at Mario's International Spa in Aurora and Akron for 8 years. In 2002, I was recruited by the Ohio College of Massotherapy to teach. I taught brick and mortar and online for 10 years. Because I taught online, I was able to teach when I moved to the Outer Banks.

Services
I wanted to do a separate page to answer some common questions from parking to massage types. I'm not a Spa, just a person who loves doing massage! I am not more than one person, I don't have multiple rooms. I am Carol, my massage is the sanctuary as well as my garden. Hours: Monday - Friday, 10-6pm By appointment only.

Carol delivered an outstanding massage. I called on short notice and she kindly fit me in to her schedule. Carol was able to identify my knots before I even pointed them out to her. The facility at her home was inviting and Carol was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend her services and will be scheduling another appointment on my next stay!

First massage I have had in a decade. Was at Nags Head for the week and scheduled the massage after researching and researching. I have been having major back and shoulder pain. BEST hour and half ever. So responsive and thorough. Every knowledgeable and kind. I'm looking forward to scheduling a vacation JUST so I can have another massage. Unbelievable experience. Absolute Perfect.

My boyfriend and I booked a couple's massage while we were on vacation in OBX. Everything went very smooth. The house was easy to find and it was very welcoming when we walked in. Everything was set up and within minutes we were getting massaged. They made sure we were comfortable and asked us if there were any areas that needed worked on more than others. If I ever come back to the area, I would love to return.

My husband and I were in town visiting and booked a couples massage with Carol and her colleague prior to us arriving in town. She was extremely easy to work with, very responsive, and even sent a reminder text the day before our massages. When we arrived at A Sanctuary Massage, we were immediately greeted and did not have to wait around or fill out unnecessary paperwork. They did, however, ask us if there were any target areas we wanted them to focus on. The massage tables were both heated, which felt INCREDIBLE. The entire massage was relaxing and felt amazing. It really felt like stress left

I have chronic hip pain as well as frozen shoulder more recently. I get massage at least twice a month. Carol is one of the best! She is personable, highly trained and educated. Thank you Carol for the fantastic massage today; You really helped those problem areas. I wish I lived closer but will be back whenever on the Outer Banks. I highly recommend "A Sanctuary Massage"
