I love James Anthony! I have been seeing Leticia for a few years and her cuts are always amazing. Their shampoo service is insane, it feels like coming to a spa with a hot towel and massage. All the women here are so sweet, often coming over to compliment my hair once it is done. I have super long hair and Leticia is the only person I feel 100% comfortable with, after getting bad haircuts other places in Oak Park. She recommends great products without aggressively pushing them and I'm always in love with my hair. I will keep coming back for sure!

I booked a consultation here with a tentative hair appointment after I got a hair cut that didn't suit me by another salon, and I wasn't disappointed! I was in such a tizzy trying to find a place to fix my hair and saw the near 5 stars this place had and the 30+ years in business so I called them. Leticia was my stylist and she gave me tips on how to style my hair and made such a difference to my hair. She was so wonderful! I also had no idea that you got a complimentary head and neck massage and OH MY GOD it was amazing. I've never left a review online before but I'm so happy. This place is fairly

I have only gone once to this salon for a partial highlight and cut. I had a good experience here - I particularly liked my stylist, who was a) very good and b) offered suggestions to improve my color and cut, which I particularly appreciated. Im not an expert in this stuff and I rely on people who have a better eye than I do for what looks good. So I appreciated that. I also enjoyed the wash station - they have a dark-lit room with quiet music, and you can really relax while getting a wash. I've never seen that, but it's a fantastic idea. I did sort of get the inkling that they are trying to get

Claudia is the BEST. She thoroughly impressed me with her talent, professionalism and kind, fun nature. This is my second time here with Claudia and I always leave having the best afternoon with her - and fabulous hair.
Have to mention Gabby who washed + toned and massaged in the Lather Room. She was incredible. Finally the girl at the front desk (I’m sorry I didn’t get her name!) has been excellent both visits too.
A little pricey but so worth it. Thank you ladies!

I was recommended to Tina at James Anthony Salon when my hair stylist moved out of state. I had some anxiety about trying a new salon and stylist, but this salon came at such high recommendation that I was optimistic. My appointment was with Tina and was scheduled on 9/16 at 1:15PM for highlights and a haircut. I wasn't seated until around 1:45PM, and it wasn't until about 1:55/2PM that I actually met Tina for the first time (the salon was very busy at the time, I get it, it happens). I do believe that Tina did a great job on my color and the Lather Lounge experience was very relaxing

I am very annoyed at myself for not remembering the name of the stylist that did my daughter's hair, but she was awesome! Went in a few months ago, sorry guys for the late review. My daughter went to this salon to donate her hair to children fighting cancer ( this salon is one of few that do this), and her stylist was AMAZING. She was so sweet and caring, and my daughter's hair came out great. It actually still looks great now, months later. She's 13, so the cut made her hair really easy to manage (rolls out of bed and off to school). We will be returning.

Just got home and wanted to write a review right away for this gem of a place. First off, the ambiance in the salon is just amazing. They have a specific room for hair washing and it's the most relaxing place. This lovely lady gave me a hair wash and head massage and I almost fell asleep. Claudia is a true rockstar. She gave amazing guidance and has maaaddd skills. We chopped off about 5-6 inches and I feel like a new person. Go check them out, you won't be disappointed!!

Claudia is the best! She listens to what I am looking for and is always friendly and personable. I've been going to her for a year now, and it's been a rough year for everyone. She has helped me uplift myself, starting with an excellent cut and color. She's attentive to my ever changing requests as well. I also feel the salon takes proper precautions to keep clients safe during COVID. I will continue to come back for excellent results!

I came in just to get my roots done to cover some greys on my medium brown hair with Megan. She turned my hair 4 shades darker - into a jet black- then said that was my natural color (It's not...). I have had medium brown my entire life and my hair looks worse than whe I went in. Leticia did a balayage and toner for me. Love the color! At first thought it was a little ashy color but just had to dry a little and the color is great. She is very knowledgeable with the balayage look and was very friendly. Would recommend! I went for a blonde balayage, so for anyone looking for someone who knows how to work with blondes and or bleaching your hair, she would be a great choice.

It's almost been a year since the first time I stepped into James Anthony Salon and it's about time I write a review. The stylists here have completely transformed how I style and take care of my hair. I first saw AJ who is no longer at the salon and moved on to Raz who obviously is just as great. Prior to coming here I felt like my hair didn't have quite the shape I wanted it to have due to it being thick and somewhat course texture. I was recommended Tea Tree Paul Mitchell shampoo and other products I now use religiously and my hair always feels fantastic

Been going here forever over a year. I was always satisfied Today I showed up for my 930 appointment, was checked in and then told they couldn’t take me at my appointed time Offered a different stylist who I knew nothing about as I used the same stylist all the time and my appointment was for her. Asked if I wanted to wait, work around or come back two hours later. They must have known they double booked the stylist. Never called me so I could avoid eating time to go there Incompetence or rudeness Either way I will never return.

I have never been more pleased with a haircut than the one I received from Erika at this salon. I have very long, pretty thick hair, and I find that some stylists don't know what to do with that hair type, but Erika was incredible.
When I arrived, they took my temperature on my wrist, which I understand has to be done, and they were really relaxed and respectful about it. Then, when Erika came to take me back, she talked through what I wanted with me, offering her suggestions when I needed them. Although I do have positive things to say about this salon, my overall experience was poor. The atmosphere is great, clean, and professional. All the staff I interacted with is also very nice. However, I was pretty disappointed and dissatisfied with how my hair turned out. Especially for the expensive price that I paid. I wanted my hair to stay mainly brown and add a few highlights in the lower half of my hair. Instead I got more than half of my hair bleached and the stylist did not dye my roots to match with the rest of my hair. My roots are a dark brown and the rest of my hair was a lighter brown

I have been going to this salon- seeing Tina- for about 20 years. My hair color is constantly being praised by family and strangers alike. I have always been treated with courtesy and professionalism. About a year ago I put my dog down just before my appointment with Tina. I cried for the entire 2hours, and Tina was the best- handed me a box of Kleenex and became a shoulder for me to lean on. You can't find this type of care just anywhere! She always has innovative ideas for styles that suit me - I wish I could take Tina to every out of state event I need to gussy up for! That may be when

I had a full balayage with AJ and it was a great experience! I've had balayage done four times total and this time was definitely one of the best! She listened to what I wanted and made sure that I was taken care of. With using blue shampoo 1x a week, the color currently is minimally brassy, now about 2 months later. I am definitely coming back here for more services in the future!

This review is long overdue. Nothing is scarier than moving to a new place and trying to find a good hairdresser. I moved from Texas to Oak Park and knew nothing about the area or salons, but I found James Anthony Salon on yelp AND saw that they did hair extensions. I took a chance and met with Stephanie, and now it's been 5 YEARS that she's made my thin limp hair look like a hair model! I never write bad reviews, especially at businesses that employ women. We tried three stylists-- two were very condescending, one was kind. My stylist, who is supposedly an "expert" stylist that charges more!, didn't even give me the adjustments I asked for, made me feel rushed. My mother's hair stylist was super cold and rude. At checkout, they first claimed the extra charge for my hair (which looks worse than how I could do it myself at home) was because my hair was long! even though my sister's hair was also long!

I have been coming to see Stephanie at James Anthony Salon since 2010. In that time my hair has been from rich chocolate brown to bright platinum blonde and everything in between! She even did fun purple peek-a-boo highlights one time.
Went again today for my regular visit with an idea to change up my color again. To break up the heavy blonde I had been rocking she added honey low lights. I am once again in love with my color!!

I truly enjoyed my experience at James Anthony Salon. Kat listened to what I had to say about my hair and she discussed with me the different types of hair treatments and the various benefits of each one. I also showed Kat a picture of what wanted done with my hair and I wanted about 12 inches cut off and donated. Along with the amazing hair and neck massage done by Evelyn, Kat also provided me with a fresh hot cup of coffee. Growing your hair out is not easy! I always get to a point where I get impatient and want to just chop it off.. I was at this point during my last visit with my stylist Stephanie. But oh no, she was not hearing it!! She reminded me of my GOAL and the reality of the process. She gave me a slight trim which was part of our long-term plan but she refused to chop it off.
