Founded in Buffalo by Larry Grant in 1961 as Western New York Appraisal Company, the company name was soon changed to Grant Appraisal & Research with the City of Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency and the New York State Department of Transportation among the firm's initial clients.

I hired Gar Associates to work in the Town of Salina and was more than pleased. They did what I hired them to do and were always just a phone call away to answer questions. They worked during the worst of the pandemic and never faltered. I would highly recommend them for ANY appraisal work!

As an Assessor for multiple jurisdictions in Western New York, I have had the opportunity to work with Gar and Associates on multiple jobs over an extended period of time. The only thing positive I can say is the company is responsive. Otherwise I have postponed writing this to have a comparison as I did not know what other companies were doing for appraisals. in our turbulent times. After a couple months of investigating I can say that the appraiser from GAR was D grade in my book. First of all she called to say she was going to be late for the appointment which I was ok with and we schedule a later time. With the adjustment in time I adjusted my plans and left my home to find that she then showed up 30 minutes early. Luckily my husband was available to let her

This company should be ashamed of themselves. Appraisals should be based on facts and major component pieces such as HVAC, and major renovations,. An Appraisal should not be based on cosmetic items such as minor peeling paint, and a few floor tiles that need to be replaced. If I could give them no stars I would. DISGUSTING
