I established Off the RAK, in the fall of 1996, as a place where people could come and enjoy a variety of great food and fantastic drinks, in a very comfortable atmosphere. What we have now is a newly renovated restaurant with three atmospheres, three personalities, and no dress code. The elegant, two story dining room is the perfect place for a family dinner, romantic date, or to gather a group together to celebrate any special occasion.
The beach inspired patio has a relaxed atmosphere that will leave you feeling like you're on a tropical getaway, even in the middle of a Pennsylvania snow storm. The fully stocked bar has multiple flat screens, a projection screen, and unique chill rail that becomes a prime location to socialize and watch the game.

Restaurant people will tell you if you wanna know how good or clean the kitchen is, just look at the bathroom. This bathroom was covered in LAYERS of dust on the trim. Cobwebs in every corner. Mold on the sink. And this brown gunk all over the urinal which is literally rotting out. The owner apparently doesn't care enough to do ten minutes of cleaning and spend $20 on caulk and paint. I know restaurants have been hit hard by pandemic but this is just basic apathetic owner error. No pride in the appearance or cleanliness.

The customer service is 100% amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The menu offers a variety of terrific food options. There is something for even the most hard to please foodie. Wings in a multitude of flavors, appetizers, and even dessert. Food portions are priced fairly. They do have a happy hour drink specials and appetizers that is also worth checking out. Fun drinks with sweet tastes. Grab a friend , take a date, or bring the co-workers out to blow off some steam. You won't be disappointed.

I've been to Off the Rak a hand full of times before and I would rate it a 5 star. Maybe it is because they need more people. I'm not really sure. Though there wasn't a sign that they were hiring. But, I went there today 11-5-21 with my best friend. I told her they have great food and that she wouldn't be disappointed. Of course that had to happen today. I got the sirloin with my two sides. It was cut in half and only received half. The plate that I received was a rectangle plate that was to small for my two sides and half a steak. I wasn't asked if I needed steak sauce. But I will also blame myself

Wait times for the food were longer than usual, but with labor shortages you better expect that EVERYWHERE! Waitress was nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. She got slammed right after we got seated but she kept up good and the one time she couldn't, another staff member stepped in and topped off our drinks for us. So I can't even say we went without drinks. Food was good. Portions average. Price seemed fair for the portions and the economy.

Waitress served the bigger tables before the 2 of us and continued to cater to them. We were seated way before the larger groups. Forgot what we asked for...extra napkins..water..etc. We have been longtime customers with a much larger group. Won't be back anytime too soon. Lousy representation of what we knew in the past. Good luck to you into the future. You sorely lack what you used to represent to each and every customer. We were just the 2 of us at that occasion but we have a whole lot of customers that patronize your place. Your attention to this matter will be an enormous enhancement to us

This used to be my favorite restaurant with the best steak for the price that I had ever had. This past visit a couple of weeks ago will make it hard for me to ever return. 1. As other people mentioned the service was dreadful. It wasn't remotely busy when we went but everything took forever and we were seldom checked on by our waiter. 2. The food was ok but they changed the steak that I have travelled hours out of my way to get before and it wasn't nearly as good. 3. This was a few weeks ago but the mask mandate was still in full effect. Not here. Most of the employees blatantly disregarded

I'm a frequent customer. My last 2 experiences have been the worst. Do we not have any good servers anymore? When having a male server it always seems to be a great visit. Let me tell you about the last experience. Took my family out to dinner, Crystal was our server. Very unfriendly and very unattendive! There was 8 of us. Morgan was our hostess and very nice and always has a smile on her face. I'm thinking maybe she should be bumped up to server! We told her our checks would be split in 2... couldn't get that right. First time coming, waited a very long time. Hostess had some friends come in unexpectedly and she nonchalantly let them in. I don't think she knew I was watching. Anyway once we sat our waitress was very sweet. But we only seen her twice she never came for refills or to see if our food was good or if we needed anything. that was disappointing but the food wasn't bad so the stars are definitely for the food. Portions were perfect for me but my husband left hungry haha. We will definitely be going to go back and try other items! Definitely try at least once but the wings looked sooo good

Service generally sucks, I have to believe that everyone is related otherwise they would have been fired by now.
Food is Inconsistent. Its usually OK (60%), frequently bad (25%),sometimes good(10%), and rarely great(5%)
Beer is the high point IF you sit in the bar...its cold and the servers know whats on tap. if you sit in the dinning room...one of the idiot relatives (see service comment above) will likely not know that they have a large selection of beers on tap so you will get a blank stare and be told that they have Bud light

It does keep you on your toes...just not in the way that you would hope. So, recent controversy aside, I will finally get to reviewing this place. I am glad that I let this one sit after my initial check in. Because of that, I got to see two sides to this place. One where I had stellar service and another where it just didn't feel as welcoming.

The food was good however their business model not so much. We ended up there at happy hour so we ordered three 1/2 price apps and a dinner, we got full, only to read (after the fact) a small card that says do not order more than you can eat for the 1/2 price apps we can not give boxes for those. Really??????
I am paying for them but you will take them and throw them away if I am full? If this company is concerned about people stock piling their half price apps then set a limit but to not give a box for leftovers is ridiculous. They should re-think this- as soon as I read that I was turned off

This place is truly one of the best places in Ebensburg to get a meal! I've been here a number of times and I always leave full and happy!
As far as food is concerned here: you truly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in the mood for an appetizer, I can suggest the wings, fries, and the crab dip... seriously the crap dip is delish! (And I'm not much of a seafood fan!)
For the main course some of my personal favorites are the burgers (the taco burger and Crabby Patty are my two favorites), the pasta, and the chicken (wings, breasts, legs... it's all

The older outside of the restaurant is misleading- it is large and spacious inside with quality decor and comfortable seating. The menu has a vast selection of different choices and flavors. They were quick to seat us and we had great service.
Our table order Sloppy Balls which are the pretzel balls covered with creamy crab dip and cheese, and they were incredible. The bourbon boneless wings were delicious. I've been to this restaurant five times and each meal has been fantastic. I've taken two coworkers here and each of them, in turn, has taken coworkers. We stayed in town last night and at supper at Off the Rak. We both had the ribs and steak and, as usual, the food was delicious. The restaurant was quite full and, in my opinion, it's nice to see a good restaurant that's busy. Our server was friendly, food was prepared and served quickly and was delicious.
The only negative experience we had was the first time visiting we had a server who seemed out of it: our dirty dishes
