Rizzo's Restaurant
In 1924, Celestine and Mary A. Rillo, who had immigrated in the early 1900's from the Northern Central region of Italy, built their home at 2200 Graham Avenue. The Rillo's lived on the second floor and operated a general store and meat market on the first floor. In 1937, the Rillo's decided to open a restaurant at the location.

At that time, Windber was a coal mining center of activity where Rillo's "Fairway Caf" enjoyed a successful start. Our industrious Grandma Rillo was in charge of the kitchen where tasteful and authentic Italian foods were prepared from old world recipes. In 1965, the restaurant was passed on to her daughter Mildred and her husband Anthony Rizzo.

Grate place to come and eat. The menu has a good variety of food to choose from. If you have a big group of people dining with you I'd recommend making a recommend.

Ok.... I have only lived in Johnstown for a few years... I have been hearing people talking about how good Rizzo's is for quite some time, so I was really excited to try it. I just recently had the chance to go and it was so so so disappointing. I started off with their soup special which was seafood bisque it was edible at best. Second course was a salad. It was a very plain and boring salad, their vinergatte was bland and I hoped for so much more. The worst thing though was my entree. I wanted the veal parmesan. Most time when you get veal or chicken or whatever parmesan it comes with a side

The wait staff was excellent and attentive. The restaurant was clean and well decorated but the food wasn't the best. The chicken and lasagna were flavorless and we were not informed till the end that refills were not free.

This restaurant is so over rated. Their bread is cold and from Bilo, the salad consists of a few pieces of lettuce, a slice or 2 of onion and tomato. I had the alfredo and the sauce was so lumpy. You do not get free refills and are not informed of this until you see it on the bill. The glasses are tiny and filled with ice. I've given this restaurant a few chances since I like to support Windber businesses, but I have been disappointed each time. Go to Anthony's...10x better!!!

My food is burnt! Just absolutely disgusting and disappointing! First time coming to this restaurant and definitely the last! Why would you serve something like that?

We're Saturday night regulars. We always come away feeling good about being there. It has energy. Very much family involved, they care about their business and their customers.
Never disappointed in the food.

Not as good as the original Rizzo's. Same family but food has gone downhill, except the lasagna which is almost as good as mine! But then I make my own ricotta fresh in the recipe.

People raving about this place must not have ever eaten at a good Italian restaurant. It's overpriced and the food is not great. My salad had bottled dressing and was on a small plate. Bread was ice cold, a shame for an Italian restaurant. The sauce was too acidic, not cooked long enough or too much tomato paste, an amateur mistake.

As always great service and great food!We eat at Rizzo's a few times every year and have never been disappointed! Best antipasto salad and wedding soup of any we have ever had . Not to mention eggplant parmesan, steak tips, prime ribs. Not one thing has ever not been spot on ❤️

What a pleasant weekend we spent with Friends. They mentioned Rizzo's and we were delighted with tender veal dishes and homemade pasta. The sauce was a perfect match for the soft Italian bread to clean our plates with.

We had a family celebration here and it was just wonderful. We were a fairly large group so we ordered from their fixed menu and had the "Italian Feast"', which included a wonderful assortment of dishes served family style. Everything was delicious and our waitress was prompt, friendly and helpful.

Great Italian food in Windber. We made Wednesday night reservations and were seated promptly. Ordered the antipasto plate to start, which was great. Entrees were Veal Parm and Cheese Ravioli, which were also great. Dessert was cannoli, which was also great. Overall, a great Italian experience.
*Sister restaurant is Anthony's in Johnstown.

I can't find a bad thing to say. Dom and his staff are wonderful. Rizzo's is a clean, friendly, responsible and well run Italian restaurant. There's no appetizer or entree that isn't perfectly thought out to assure you are satisfied with taste, texture value and portion size. There are no frozen chicken patties or canned alfredo sauce served here. I'm well familiar with the owner, staff and menu and have never have never had a complaint. The highest priority for the staff is your satisfaction. I highly recommend Rizzos for the best of home cooking and a relaxing dinner

Dinner every Saturday evening. It's our date night. Lots of energy & a fun place to be. How can you NOT be happy when eating quality home made Italian food.
I can't say we have a favorite because everything is well prepared. Staff is friendly & most have been there a long time. Very, very low turnover-that says something for this family run restaurant. Service is excellent. Great bartenders are skilled. Owners mingle among patrons, greeting & assuring you that your important. They take nothing for granted.
If you have less than a great experience, it's

Always the best. I eat here every time I am passing through. The Rigatoni is my favorite and the anti pasta is great. The wait staff is excellent and the owners always check on the customers to see if they are satisfied. Bar Tender is the best! Lots of parking and clean restrooms too!

Stopped here on a Saturday evening looking for some Italian fare at a new spot near Johnstown. Actually had this place bookmarked so it made sense to head here and give it a try.

First and foremost this place is massive - bar area as soon as you walk in, booths along the wall, large seating area, then a cut-thru and two more large rooms for seating. Upon our arrival they were slammed packed.

Able to be sat - we ordered a couple drinks and passed on appetizers. I went towards the usual chicken Parmesan (shocker) and a salad, adding the vegetables of the day which were broccoli/carrots/cauliflower

We discovered Rizzo's a few weeks ago (we're about 15 minutes away). We've been there twice now. All four meals we have had have been amazing! Tonight I had the pork tips in steak marinade and they were unbelievable. My wife had eggplant parm, which was some of the best I've ever had.
The atmosphere is casual, the owner/manager walks around checking up on people in a very friendly way. The staff that we have encountered have all been very pleasant. It definitely has the feel of a neighborhood gathering place where people all know each other.
Their sauce is very good - we prefer

Tuesday is Pasta Night.
Pick any two pastas (including ravioli!) and meat or marinara sauce for 8.95 - you even get a big meatball!
Now you have a nice date night AND room in the budget for wine and chocolate cheesecake.

So since i moved to Chicago, i make stopping here a priority when i travel back, well as they say, all good things must come to an end.
For years I have been getting the king filet, until this final Saturday visit it has been worth the 30 bucks. no more!!!!! what a disappointment, I should have just drove down the street and tossed my wallet at the door i would have had more satisfaction. looks like S & T is the new go to.

A little over 20 miles from Interstate 70 and Somerset, Pennsylvania where we stayed in a quaint B&B, we found Rizzo's when nothing in Somerset looked very interesting for our anniversary dinner.

Al large building in Eastern Windber, the family lives upstairs and the restaurant is downstairs. The restaurant itself is somewhat nondescript with bright lighting. The bar has a little more ambience, but we were seated in the "hallway" behind the bar, a high traffic area with little charm.

The service was friendly and efficient. I started with the house Burgundy ($4.50), coming in

Our visit to RIZZO's could not have been more perfect! Our waiter, Marcus, was exceptional! Our food was exquisite from the ante pasta through each of the dishes to follow. Linguini with clam sauce, chicken captavi, chicken Parmesan, and sirloin. All pasta was prepared perfectly, and each sauce -- full bodied and rich. We'll be returning very soon. Reservations recommended!!!
