The main building is lovely. The east house is not in any way shape or form worth the price tag. Spiders should not be in windows for 300 dollars a night. Food is passable. The chicken sandwich I had for lunch was better then the steak I had for dinner. The hardworking staff are what saves the 3 star rating.

Closing weekend of October 22, 2021. Let me first say the food and staff are outstanding as usual. My issue is the dogs, everywhere! In the restrooms, in the restaurant, dander everywhere, dog hair on the beautiful outdoor seats. This hotel is way to pricey to have to share with everyone's dogs.

Hotel ground is beautiful. We didn’t use the pool because it’s October. It’s a bit further from the downtown area but there’s so much nature beauty to see on the way. There are many big mansions in this area, including president Bush’s vacation home. Buffet breakfast is very good. We stayed in the smallest garden view queen room. It was very clean. Great water pressure and WiFi for an old hotel. The room can be too small for a longer stay. I didn’t give five stars because the maintenance and facilities are not as good as some other historic hotels where I stayed before. But overall

Gorgeous place. Beautiful views. Salted heated pool. No TVs in the rooms. Small bathroom. Highly recommended regardless. Awesome helpful staff. Breakfast is included which is nicely done.

Just stayed two nights for a business event. Food and service were outstanding. My room was spotless clean and the bathroom was as well. All of the staff were really working hard to make things nice. I had a particularly nice conversation with Brenda. She took such pride in her work not to mention the hotel itself.
Certainly made me feel welcome.

You have to understand this is 100+ year old building.
If you were looking for super modern amenities and a big screen TV in your room this is not your spot. But if you're looking for a classic grande style hotel, with a comfortable room and

Beautiful spot, nice grounds, pool, porch. The beach was close by for walking and town is not far away. We walked there twice. The rooms in the main hotel are charming with flowered wallpaper and old fashioned furniture but modern bathrooms. If you stay in this building, know that there is no AC or tv and that it’s loud at night. Every outdoor sound carries into the windows. We stayed on the garden side which also overlooks the parking lot. You hear car locks beeping and people gathered in the parking circle talking until all hours. There seems to be nobody controlling the noisy guests. Definitely

Simply beautiful and relaxing place. And they do love dogs.
I wish that in 2021, they had more Vegan options in the poolside pub other than the vegan staple fries or salad. We had dogs so did not eat in the main dining room and have not seen that menu. Breakfast buffet is great for all.

Great hotel, perfect location nice staff loved the team at breakfast always smiling and great food in the restau near the pool. Lots of family with children and dogs are welcome so if you travel solo and want quiet time or don’t like dogs, not a good idea otherwise it’s perfect. I was happy to come back.

Our 2-night stay featured excellent customer service, beautiful vistas, well-maintained grounds, and wonderful location. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the shopping areas and a number of restaurants. In addition, a brief walk down Ocean Ave will delight you with views of Walker's Point and the Bush family compound. The only negative aspect of our stay was the open-air nature of the hotel, allowing all noise on the grounds to permeate our room. All in all, the hotel represented an excellent launching point for our exploration of Maine.

Fantastic hotel. You are steps away from a beautiful saltwater pool and essentially a private beach. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. I was a bit worried about the lack of AC and TV, but I forgot about those worries the minute I arrived - the rooms are comfortable and wifi fast. Hotel gives off a very charming historic vibe. Staff are so sweet, helpful at every turn. Breakfast selection is huge and you may eat on lovely little tables on the porch if you prefer the open air. Would love to come back.

The worst by far! Of all the rooms in the hotel, they placed me above the wedding celebration so I couldn't even rest after 6 hr drive. The walls are thin, I've been to the concerts with less loud music, the wedding party took all the place so no comfort to even be outside. To be clear, I am happy they have weddings, but cannot believe how inconsiderate the hotel management is to destroy my weekend for 500$/night. Just don't take reservations if you fail people like that! Ugh!

I am in hell right now. This hotel gives The Overlook from The Shining a run for its money. It looks just like The Overlook of 1980 and everywhere I turn are horrors. I am stuck in the world's smallest, shabbiest, hottest, and most humid room. It's dirty too. We're here for a wedding. We booked in March for an August stay. This was the only room available. No air conditioning, ripped sheets, dirty doors, door handles, light switches, headboard, and telephone. I asked the front desk if the bedspread and blanket were changed for laundered ones between guests. I got three different

We had our wedding here this past weekend and it was well worth every penny. Outside of it being a beautiful location and venue, the staff is what makes it 5 Stars. Caite the wedding planner was amazing. She is well organized, and responded quickly, especially the week of the wedding. Any questions I had were answered. The rest of the staff was also top notch. Their positive and bubbly personalities were contagious, even during stressful moments the days before the wedding. We especially loved Busiswa, who attended to my family the day of wedding and the night before, and our server Richard, who

Your Colony experience begins with your entrance on the driveway toward a large white historic building complete with columns and portico. The lobby has a elegant ambiance lost on new hotels. We dined early evening outdoors on a patio adjacent large swimming pool with a predictable number of kids having fun. Menu was consistent with casual outdoor dining with a manageable choices. We all enjoyed our choices. There was live music with fun trio of musicians. Uniformed waitstaff provides flawless service and is not bothersome during your meal. Just spent a weekend here with the kids. The good: clean rooms with cold a/c; great pool area with a good pool menu; free breakfast buffet is one of the best around. The not so good: you are forced to choose between the smaller rooms in the old wing, which have an ocean view but no a/c (trust me, you will want the a/c in the summer!) or the east wing rooms across the street, which have solid a/c but no views. Also this is an old hotel so sound travels and you do not want to be on the bottom floor where people come out of the bar to use the restrooms. Honestly the rating would be higher if the room

This rating relates to the Food and Beverage on property not the hotel room accommodations. Specifically the Mariner Room menu and poolside services. Of note, the previously offered Friday night buffet I would give higher marks to as it was a stand out in the area and hope they will be able to offer it again in the future.

The views on the property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean are stunning and offer clear views of the water in all it's Maine glory -- something that will be enjoyed throughout your meal. Additionally, being there for a sunset is even an added bonus.

Overall, the food

We stayed at the Colony Hotel over Fourth of July weekend. It's a historic hotel that offered a great pool, lovely main building, and delicious food. Unfortunately, our room's decor and comfort level did not match the feel of the main building. We were given a room in the Galland House, and it was very much like a cabin - complete with knotted pine paneling, and some of the ugliest furniture and window treatments I have ever seen. It looks like it hasn't been updated in at least 50 years. The door to the Galland House was unlocked, and made us feel like we were staying in a motel

This was my first time staying here and my last. If you like a very old school vacation with quality time with your family and not a lot of interruptions then this place is for you! No tv, no fridge, WiFi that doesn't work, no cell service and no a/c (which wasn't that bad at night because it gets very cool being You're so close to the water) which some people probably appreciate, personally I don't. If at least the WiFi worked like it was supposed to I would have gotten some work done on my laptop or phone but being we were in one of the bigger rooms on the outskirts of the

Last minute mid summer escape. we had our new puppy for less then 6 months. we've been going to maine for summer vacation past 15 years. now that we have a new family member seeking out dog friendly lodging was a must. we alway had a desire to visit the kennebunkport area and while researching the area for possible consideration we stumbled upon this resort.

the dog friendly attitude towards guest will be hard to find anywhere else !

My family and I took a trip to Kennebunkport with our pupper and this was the perfect hotel for it! It's an old-fashioned looking hotel, but very clean and quaint. The view of the beach is beautiful. It is a dog-friendly hotel so you get the pleasure of seeing adorable pups everywhere you go! We did not stay in the main building because it doesn't have AC or TVs, but our building was a short walk away from the action. The room was spacious and clean, the cleaning service always kept it spotless. The complimentary breakfast was decent, but became very crowded and often food would run out

I do not understand why people love this hotel. We stayed a couple of weeks ago and were disappointed. There is no TV, the internet was so slow that I could not watch the Democratic debate on my phone, there is also no AC. There food was average but nothing to write home about. If you wake up early forget about getting an early cup of coffee or breakfast. I would never choose to stay in this hotel again. Unless you want to experience what hotel life was back in the 1900s, I would choose another place.

Go for the view, go elsewhere to eat. Came for lunch and while the view is spectacular the lunch we had Mariner's Room was subpar. Husband ordered a lobster...in Maine...it had clearly been previously frozen then heated up. Butter was not drawn, and it didn't come with any broth. When he asked for broth the waiter had no idea what he meant and after going back to the kitchen to inquire he said they'd "tossed it" and brought him a bowl of water. So...don't order the lobster. We stayed at the colony Inn in mid October on a Thursday night. The weather was beautiful and I was surprised to see the pool still open. The hotel is old but meticulously maintained. The rooms have a shabby chic decor mixing old world with modern amenities.

There is no AC or television in the rooms in the main house. This was not an issue for us as it was a cool evening and we don't generally watch TV while away, but if you stay there mid-summer, I could see it being an issue (maybe - because they have nice coastal breezes).

The age of the hotel lends to hearing your neighbors above, below

We had an amazing stay at the Colony. What a beautiful and tranquil place to relax! The service was wonderful, front desk staff and wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Included breakfast was very good.

This place is the perfect spot to take in unbelievable views of the ocean, swim in the saltwater pool or take a short walk to the private beach. The adorable town is a doable walk and you can also rent bikes for $5 per hour and ride to town or take a ride along Ocean Ave that the hotel is located on. The grounds at this place are so idyllic. Full disclosure - I did not stay here but frequented the pool.

LOVED the gorgeous pool, gorgeous comfy lounge chairs, gorgeous lobby, and overall old school classy vibe. Great poolside cocktails and surprisingly tasty lunch! The Sunday tea here also looked intriguing.

Looks like a great spot for a romantic weekend away, though in full disclosure I didn't see the actual bedrooms so couldn't tell if they rooms and beds were updated.
