Children learn through play and exploration. Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool is committed to gently guiding its students' education during the early years by following developmentally appropriate practices in all areas of the curriculum.

Children enrolled in extended sessions and Lunch Plus Enrichment bring lunches from home to eat at school. Good Shepherd Preschool provides low-fat milk and a small side snack (such as baby carrots or crackers) alongside these lunches from home. Children enrolled in two and a half-hour sessions are provided with a daily snack consisting of low-fat milk or 100 percent fruit juice plus a food item.
Communication between school and families is of great importance to GSLP's directors and staff. GSLP provides several avenues of communication between home and school. Teachers send home a letter at the beginning of each school year introducing themselves and providing class-specific information. Teachers keep families informed about what children are doing in the classroom through daily notes posted on class bulletin boards.
