Front Range Hippotherapy
Hippotherapy can be a valuable physical therapy tool for individuals with mental and physical disabilities. Our physical therapist has over 18 years of experience and we own and operate our family-friendly facility in Longmont, Colorado. Sessions usually last between 30-45 minutes, with 30 minutes mounted.

We have sessions year-round - and in inclement weather we treat indoors with special equipment designed to enhance the client's experience on the horse. We feel strongly that hippotherapy is not exclusive as a tool and are very happy to incorporate traditional methods of stretching, therapeutic exercise, gait and mobility training, balance and coordination training and sensory integration techniques into our equine physical therapy practice.
Services
Hippotherapy: is a physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy treatment strategy that utilizes equine movement as part of an integrated intervention program to achieve functional outcomes. Equine movement provides multidimensional movement, which is variable, rhythmic and repetitive.

The horse provides a dynamic base of support, making it an excellent tool for increasing trunk strength and control, balance, building overall postural strength and endurance, addressing weight bearing, and.
Hippotherapy is used as a treatment tool for clients of all ages who are differently abled-neurologically, behaviorally, and/or cognitively. It is combined with conventional therapy treatments to elicit a response in our clients. The responses vary from elongating a tight muscle, to stimulating and facilitating muscle tone with hypotonia, to eliciting a desired outcome such as a client audibly saying "walk on".
