At Doug Dewey Physical Therapy, we specialize in hands on (manual) treatment of spine and extremities for recent or chronic painful muscle and joint conditions. Treatment consists of joint and/or soft tissue mobilizations, primarily using the technique of Strain and Counterstrain.
Strain and Counterstrain is a powerful soft tissue release technique which may help relieve tight muscles and stiff joints and other problems, that have been resistant to previous treatments, especially long-term chronic conditions, providing lasting effects and pain relief.

Doug is the best soft tissue PT!! He is warm and friendly, listens, and explains what he is doing as he treats you. He has helped me with tendinitis, whiplash, spinal issues , nerve pain and various other injuries from sports and dance. Nancy, his wife, does all the appointments and bookkeeping. She has the gift of making everyone feel welcome and evaluate. Doug has been my PT for over 10 years, and has been nothing short of professional and amazing.

I came to see Doug after a year of traditional physical therapy. I was still having pain from a hamstring injury and my doctor recommended I see if Doug could help before we committed to surgery. Doug was able to help me relieve the pain and tightness in my hamstring. I'm back to running without pain and didn't have to have surgery. Doug is the man to see if traditional physical therapy just isn't working for you. He's kind, professional, and takes the time to listen to you and address your concerns.

Doug Dewey helped me with some work related elbow issues that I was having. Each time I went in I felt better. Doug is thorough, he takes detailed notes and asks the right questions to help determine what kind of pain his patients are having. Each time I saw him, he read through his notes to double check the results of the previous session. I also felt like he communicated well with me about my progress to assure that the treatment was helpful and not wasting my time and money. He won't push anyone to have treatments they don't need or aren't working. He is gentle and the sessions

I'd heard about Doug for years and had at least 6 personal recommendations to see him. He was referred to as some kind of magician, even. The rumors were correct. He has helped me so much with work related repetitive motion discomforts, TMJ and headaches, and some thoracic outlet type symptoms. I haven't felt this well in a long time and am able to do some physical things I hadn't been able to do for more than a year. He is knowledgeable and intuitive.

Absolutely the worst experience with a medical "professional" in my life. He raised his voice at me, cursed his wife (who makes the appointments and handles insurance), and injured my shoulder not noticing that I had indicated on his form that I had surgery on that shoulder. He complained the entire time about having to share a rented room with other therapists. By the end of my session my shoulder hurt more than when I first arrived. Appalling bad service and unprofessional - save yourself the trouble and seek help elsewhere.
