Our focus is to help the living successfully navigate the Acute Loss Period, the crucial time between the event of death and the onset of grief. At Ramsey Funeral Homes, your most important decision isn't whether to choose burial or cremation. Your most important decision will be to fully understand how your choices impact the emotional, relational and spiritual well-being of those who cared for, loved and shared life with your loved one.

We are pioneers, educators and experts in the field of Acute Loss Management. This groundbreaking field in Thanatology is viewed both nationally and internationally as the palliative care model replacing the traditional funeral experience. Please feel free to browse our pages to learn more about pre-planning a funeral and grief support, as well as the traditional funeral and cremation services that we have to offer.

The history of the building that Ramsey Funeral Home occupies today dates back to 1904. It was in 1904 that the first high school in Butte County was built on this site, the corner of Robinson Street and Second Avenue. The enrollment for students increased so that by 1909 the roof was raised and a third story was added to the building.
Many people plan for life events such as weddings and vacations well in advance, but many people do not plan for something that is certain to happen, their funeral. While most people do not want to think about their own mortality, the time to pre-plan your funeral is now.

The primary advantages of pre-arranging your funeral is to relieve the burden on your loved ones in an already emotional time, and to ensure your funeral is carried out according to your wishes, eliminating the task of second-guessing what you would have wanted.Taking the time now to arrange your funeral is one less thing your loved ones will need to worry about once you've passed.
Family and friends getting together to honor a loved one's life is one of the most important steps in the grieving and healing process. You may opt to have a traditional religious or military service, or as more and more people are doing, you can choose to have a non-traditional 'life celebration'.
After a death, there are many legal details to hammer out. While it is not necessary to get a lawyer, it is strongly recommended. A lawyer will make sure all the 't's are crossed and i's are dotted. The time following a death of a loved one is extremely emotional, and even the closest family will have disagreements over the most trivial matters.
A funeral is a ceremony for a deceased person prior to burial or cremation. A funeral gives the opportunity for family and friends of the deceased to gather and mourn the passing of their loved one, to share cherished memories and celebrate their life. A funeral is a vital first step to help the bereaved heal after the loss of someone special.
