Funerals allows us to recognize a life that was lived and also acknowledge at the same time that their life has come to an end. Funerals exist as a way for the living to honor the life of their loved one. Funerals are an outward expression of the loss of a loved one. It adds ritual to the experience and can be personalized to express your family's beliefs and traditions.
Funeral directors are both caregivers and administrators. In their administrative duties, they make the arrangements for transportation of the body, complete all necessary paperwork, and implement the choices made by the family regarding the funeral and final disposition of the body. When a death occurs in your family, you will be faced with a number of important tasks and asked to make decisions during a very difficult time.
The deceased worker must have credit for work covered by Social Security, ranging from 1 1/2 to 10 years depending on his or her age at death. A widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled), or at any age if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled. A divorced widow or widower age 60 or older (50 if disabled), if the marriage lasted 10 years, or if caring for an entitled child who is under 16 or disabled.
The loss of a loved one can take its toll on you both physically and mentally. You may experience a roller coaster of emotions. One moment may find you incapacitated by grief, whereas in the next you may feel almost normal. Anger, fear, guilt, and panic are just a few of the emotions you may experience.
Take the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. After you pay the toll at the Wyoming Valley Interchange, get off at the next exit, which is exit 37. When you get off the exit, bear right onto Route 315 North towards Dupont. At the fourth traffic light, bear to the left heading towards Avoca.

Michelle was absolutely amazing. After we had issues with another funeral home, Michelle stepped in and supported my grieving mother and myself every step of the way. When I explained the situation, she remained 100% professional. She was kind and considerate. She walked us through every step of the process. Options were offered and discussed.… Everything went smoothly. Michelle called throughout the week to ensure all of our questions were answered. She explained everything regarding COVID regulations. My mother was attended to throughout the service. Michelle truly goes above and beyond

Michelle, Bernie and their staff act very professionally during Funeral services. Our family has used their services twice over the past few years, and we have been extremely pleased. They treat their families with respect and hold the upmost dignity for the deceased. There is no pressure making arrangements, and as a family we can meet for final arrangements at our convenience. As a long standing family business, the Bernard J. Pointek Funeral Home made us comfortable during our times of loss.

Pointek Funeral home gets 5 stars from me. Michelle went above and beyond to ensure my family was taken of. Her knowledge and experience got me through an extremely hardtime with great ease. This was the first time I had to handle a situation like this and michelle held my hand and explained next steps through the whole process. Her knowledge… of handling different aspects of a passing of love one was amazing. I dont belive i would have gotten this kind if service anywhere else. Going foward, I would not go anywhere else. Thank you Michelle.

A special thank you to Michelle at Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Home for helping me every step of the way with arranging the first funeral I've ever had to plan from start to finish. Your professionalism & kindness eased my heart through this difficult time. Also for accepting our "odd items" such as fish mounts & sports items that were so important to my dad, & turning it into a beautiful farewell service for our him with enlisting the help of Floral Fantasies ceramic and gift in Duryea.
