My practice of Chinese medicine is a direct reflection and extension of my life. It is informed by seventeen years of study of the medical and philosophical classics and my years of personal training and cultivation. The medicine I offer is comprehensive in that it honors the many aspects of a patient's life, physical to cognitive and spiritual, and can aid in the alleviation of suffering on many levels.
It acknowledges the myriad variations of illness, allowing me to effectively treat a wide range of disorders, while never losing sight of the sole key to real health. It can, thus, relieve symptoms, while empowering the patient to uncover higher levels of living. My medicine is heart-centered in that compassion and sincerity are the foundation, and it is powerful as a keen intellect continually hones clinical practice.

Services
Over my seventeen years in clinical practice I have found myself repeating to new patients the same basic fundamentals of healthy living. In modern Western society we have left basic health education largely ignored or left to commercial interests. At the heart of Chinese medicine is wisdom on how to live life to its maximum, how to be as healthy as you can.
Food has specific therapeutic properties - beyond vitamin and mineral content - that can be applied on an individual basis for a specific patient's illness. The full power of food as medicine can be appreciated once one realizes that we eat every day, three times a day. Where diet is medicine, that's therapy three times a day, seven days a week!
Explanation of the properties aren't given here as this is posted primarily for reference by current patients seeking to alter their diet according to their Chinese medical diagnosis. A word of caution should be given. Food is medicine. Compared to pharmaceuticals, though, food is very 'weak'. However, as you eat several times a day, every day, the cumulative effects of food are huge, hence, the ability to use food effectively as medicine.
My girlfriend and I have been in Seattle for over three years now and we absolutely love it. As she likes to say, "We live in a calendar." All the pictures you see on this website are from travels we have taken all over the Pacific Northwest. For me, beauty is truth, seeing, knowing what is actually there, again, that inner secret revealed.
Note - Please purchase texts as close to the source as possible, from the publisher or author themselves, such as University of California Press for Unschuld's texts. For Chinese medical texts, purchase directly from the author or use Redwing Books or other Chinese medical publishers such as Happy Goat Productions or Chinese Medicine Database.

I'm new to acupuncture and honestly I was a little Skeptic at first. But now I only wish that I would of started sooner! Acupuncture has been a "game changer" for me and I've honestly been amazed with how much it has helped me not only physically but emotionally too! John Aguilar, Jr is very intuitive and answers all my questions with a smile. I highly recommend him!

My experience with John--knowing him professionally & personally for almost 15 years--has been overwhelmingly positive.
I am continually amazed by his level of focus, determination, & fidelity to the principles of Chinese medicine... as well as his unceasing practice of always learning more.
John's unwavering commitment to the ethical provision of sound, effective, individually-tailored treatment is an undeniable benefit to his patients (of course). However, it also serves as an example to many other professionals & people in general (myself included), of what it means to "do good work".

Doctor John is a miracle worker! He literally saved my life, adding years of good health and vitality.
I was suffering from chronic heartburn and other ailments as a result of years of alcohol and drug abuse stemming from my combat induced PTSD.
During my first visit Doctor John determined that my liver was severely blocked and in bad shape. He treated me with acupuncture. That night I noticed my heartburn was gone and my body began to heal. It took almost a full year but everyday I could tell my liver was cleaning up and my body was dumping years of acid and toxin build up.

I have been to a couple of acupuncturists in the past, but I have never had results as significant as those gained from Dr. Aguilar's treatments. He completely healed my torn hamstring in only a couple sessions and has been very instrumental in helping me overcome emotional issues. I doubt that you will find an acupuncturist in Seattle more dedicated to and proficient in the art.
