The gym is well equipped and centrally located. There are plenty of options for weight lifting as well as group classes and cardio equipment. You can do suspension training on the turf. The protein shakes are delicious. The personal trainers are awesome. The sauna and steam room in each locker room are definitely a bonus!

The new babysitting service is so convenient and hassle free, not to mention the childcare workers are super sweet and attentive. The front desk staff are so polite and make it their mission to fix any problems or concerns that members have. Of all the gyms I've had memberships at, AF by far has the best atmosphere, especially for those early morning workouts.

Recently, I learned that my automatic billing hasn't stopped following my cancelation request. I reached out to AK Fitness and ultimately spoke to Jen. She was very prompt, understanding, and provided a resolution.
What was so great is that during the entire process she assured me that she would make things right- and she did!
If you have a concern reach out and work with Jen. She is a great owner and AK Fitness is the best gym in town.

Do not ever put your debit card on file for auto payments, and better yet don't ever come here. There are better gyms in Alaska that actually APPRECIATE your business and won't screw you over.
I haven't stepped foot in this gym since February and cancelled my membership then, giving them 30 days notice as my full year was up in March. It's now late July and I've still been getting charged 84.95 since then. Jen, naturally as a shady business owner, is refusing to remedy the situation and is trying to keep my $340 she so wrongfully STOLE from me saying my husband checked

Most of the staff was great. Great facility. We went to the grand opening and got a three day pass to try the facility and the third day there was a mishap. We went around 4 or 5 in the evening and the short brunette (lady) with glasses gave us attitude about our third day. She didn't care about us as customers and she was very rude. The other two representatives that we worked out with previously said it was ok they seen us and knew us but because she was so rude and unapologetic. We left. There are gyms within a 5 mile radius that charges who have diff rates facilities and representatives

What a great gym. I travel to Anchorage one to two times a year for business. Always make sure to stay at a hotel close so I can train at this place early in the am.
If you are a big into weight training this is your place. One of my favorite places to train when on the road and not back in SD. Reasonable fee for a one or two day workout. Reed was at the front desk this am and really made me feel welcomed

In town for just a couple of days, on business. I'm training for my first powerlifting meet so I need a place that will let me do deadlifts (some "so-called 'fitness centers'" prohibit such basic exercises!). Landed after 2230 and called the gym. I was psyched someone actually answered the phone - I have a membership to Anytime Fitness so I'm familiar with 24-hour facilities but normally those are only for members with a key; the facilities aren't staffed 24 hours. Alaska Fitness IS! They guy on the phone was super nice and assured me I could do whatever

First gym I've joined. All good. Good amounts of free weights and machines. Cardio section and rooms for classes is nice. Facility is clean with towels and wipes provided. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable and open to answer questions as needed. The other gym members are focused on working out but will step in if they see you need assistance. As a new gym rat I appreciate this. Also like the sauna and steam room. Location on A St very convenient to base. Overall been a great experience.

It's -20 outside and even the dog doesn't want to go outside. So I turn to alaska fitness. Love this place! It is located in a unassuming strip mall and has more of an "old school" feel to it than, say, body renew or planet beach. But that's what makes it awesome. All the equipment, clean, and super friendly people.

UPDATE: Well, spoke too soon. After being told 'Ok, no problem, I will end it for you" I get charged. I thought it was just a mistake so I reached out to remedy the problem. That's when I get told about this fee and proof of moving papers and just a whole spiel. I'm extremely disappointed. I was SO, SO pleasantly surprised when I wrote my initial review. I thought, "Now that is how you do business." Back to the present .. Don&apos

Alaska is the place to workout with the fair monthly dues. They do have older equipment but not old as other reviews claim it to be. Free weights and cables are just that, treadmills could use an upgrade but again it works fine every time I use it.
The sauna and steam room is always empty in the morning. Towels are available at the front desk and trainers are available for an extra fee; however, the classes are free including yoga, Piyo, zumba, insanity, etc. childcare is available for $5 and I think you can get a punch card.

Very expensive, always packed, never clean (and never enough towels to clean with on your own), the employees have no idea what's going on, the tanning booth is disgusting and the bulbs do not work, everything is old... It's a disaster.
Also, we tried to cancel our membership (after buying one on a weekend - when no one is there and after being promised that it was never much busier than that) and we're told that you have to prove that you're moving more than 70 miles away, pay $100 and give a 30 day notice in writing. I found Alaska Fitness after canceling my membership at the hell hole that I will unlovingly refer to as The Cosmic Body Fitness Location That Supposed Never Judges But Totally Does And Is A Crap Hole. I'm in love with AF!
