Services
Tar River Veterinary Hospital was established in 1989. Since then, we have served countless clients from the Franklin, Wake, Granville, and Vance county areas and will continue to do so. We are a full-service small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.
Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Current vaccinations are required at the time of surgery. Also a pre-anesthetic blood screen is recommended prior to undergoing anesthesia and surgery.

Was apprehensive having my dog get a major surgery, but the doctors and staff at Tar River made it that much easier. All appointments, despite being busy, have been quick and efficient. They provided the meds and information needed and despite paying slightly higher than the estimate, the pricing was more than fair for what was done. I feel lucky to have them so close to home and you should be using them if you’re looking for a vet.

Our cat spent four days in their care. He was discharged at 12:30pm, and we were told he was much better and fine to come home. Not even 6 hours later our cat was crying out in pain and unable to move. After rushing him to an emergency vet who was open, we were told he never should have been discharged from tar river vet hospital. Had we not taken him in, he would have died in horrible pain during the night. We had no choice after spending $1,500 on his care at tar river but to have him put to sleep to end his pain and suffering. We will NEVER bring tar river vet another pet.

Wonderful! absolutely wonderful! this vet put down my best friend jackie, and they did a great job and were very kind and sweet to both me and my dog. the people who work there are both caring and deliver quality treatment to animal patients. we have boarded a dog here, gotten various treatments and come for many checkups and every visit was a delight. 0 complaints, 100% recommend to anyone looking for a vet for their pets.

The vet is operating under pandemic protocols. Thus meaning, as pet parents, a vet tech comes out and takes your animal while you are made to wait outside the building. I would rather be with my pets. In fact, it's extremely nerve racking as this was our first visit to this vet as we've moved. I have to entrust strangers for my pet's wellbeing when these arrangements are made. FYI, you may want to call your vet and ask them about their pandemic procedures. Overall, I felt good with the visit. It's just I find it absurd that pet owners can't accompany their pets, but in the time of the pandemic

Dr. Goldman, Eileen and Shelby gave excellent care to our sweet Molly before she crossed over. When Molly had veterinary visits, she was excited to see her girls and get loved by them. I highly recommend Tar River Veterinary Hospital. The quality of care given is above and beyond. The cost is very reasonable.
