Everyone should have an estate plan. Our attorneys will assist you in reviewing your existing plan if you have one; and in developing a plan that is right for you, taking into account your personal goals, tax savings, and the options available to you. If you wish to provide for disabled beneficiaries or minor children, or children from a previous relationship we will assist you in drafting papers to include these beneficiaries' particular needs.
A properly drafted power of attorney document can, among other things, help avoid the costs and complexities of a conservatorship in the event of your incapacity and will allow your agent to handle your affairs for you if you are physically or mentally unable to do so. This type of document can have broad, sweeping effect and should only be prepared with the assistance of an attorney.
Upon death, we will assist you in administering the estate or trust of a decedent, including preparation of any necessary accountings and court papers. If a decedent had a trust, ordinarily you will be able to avoid a protracted and costly probate proceeding.

In such a situation, we assist you in all aspects of administering the trust, including collection of assets, establishing any necessary post-death trust accounts; sending notices, and preparing any necessary inventories, accountings and distributions. If estate, income or trust income taxes are owed we will work with your tax preparer to timely file the returns and pay any tax due.
